I cannot connect when pressing the Onstar button or the SOS button on my 2017 Equinox LTZ. The green light on the mirror is NOT lit. Is there a fuse for this and if so, where? thanks

Update:

Issue resolved. I had to take it to a dealer and they had to unplug(resetting) the Onstar module which is located on the drivers side kick panel area. They unplugged it for 10 minutes and it came back to life. The green button was still not on but pressing the blue Onstar button once....a recording came on advising it was not active. I pressed it again and a 25 minute phone call to an advisor, I had my Free, 3 year plan activated. Now I can use my MyChevy App to control locks, start engine, and horn and lights. It did take them 2 hours to figure that all out.

- Thank God For Warranties !
We actually had a part of our Onstar go out well after warranty on our 2009 Saturn Aura. I called Onstar first and they did some remote T-shoot and reset procedures. . still would could not do some functions like verufy calling minutes, etc. They said take it to the dealer.

Bam .. . ordered a new Onstar Module and installed no charge. Best part is. .. the original module did not have Bluetooth but the new one did! Free upgrade!

So yours was out or warranty, how did you get them to install it for free? You got an upgraded Onstar module and installation all for free?
I called Onstar first. .. while on my CELL phone. . they had me go through some on/off button pushing cycles, waiting, more button pushing while they reset and ran diagnostic tests.

After that, they said it was a malfunction and take it to the dealer. They said when I did that, the dealer would be able to tell that they had run their diagnostics and that would allow the dealer to replace what was necessary.

I do not know for sure, but if you go that route, Onstar wants your continued $$$. So perhaps they authorize replacement ? ?

Side issue:
Dropped Onstar when free period ran out. Never used it.
Now I've got a card that offers 3 years free-just push the button.

SO, anyone else get that offer? What's the catch?

I also dropped OnStar when the intro period was over.
My second free 3-year offer came a few of weeks ago, I just throw them in the trash.

If you read the offer, it doesn't have a catch.
If you decide to go for it something might pop up, like they will ask for a credit card if you need a tow vehicle dispatched or other personal info.

Try it and let us know.

Speaking of which--

for folks with the newer units- 2015+ , with Onstar, have any of your received updated notices about engine diagnostics?

These are not the typical month end diagnostics....
These are real time maintenance and diagnostics...

Proactive Alerts

Proactive Alerts give customers peace of mind knowing that their vehicle’s key starting and fuel system components will not degrade without their knowledge, with notifications provided before a problem occurs. The alerts are designed to help predict specific types of issues based on information collected from the vehicle. (Not all issues will produce alerts.)

Currently offered on V6-equipped 2015-2016 Equinox and Terrain models and the 2016 Corvette, Proactive Alerts will soon become available on 2016 Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Sierra, Yukon models and Escalade models.

TIP: Customers must at least have the OnStar Basic Plan to enroll in the service.

Proactive Alerts monitor the performance of the:

• Engine cranking system (battery and starter motor performance)

• Fuel delivery system (in-tank fuel pump module and fuel pressure sensor performance)

Notifications before a Failure

When a covered component is detected as having degraded performance, an alert is generated. This is designed to happen before customers experience an issue with the vehicle. Some Proactive Alert messages may be generated without customers noticing any symptoms.

Customers will be notified in real-time via email and/or text message. (Fig. 9) An in-vehicle audio alert over the infotainment system also may be provided.
