So I’m not sure if this is normal or not. Curious if it’s the fuel injector causing this loud noise or can it be something else? For any of you V6 owners does your's make this clicking noise as well?

It comes and goes. It doesn't stay loud like that after sometime. I don't feel or see any difference in the driving at all. Just that sound it produces from time to time. If i were to shut the car off and restart it after a minute or 2 its gone.

So I went to have it checked out. I took it to my personal mechanic he told me I need a valve adjustment. While i took it to the dealership and told me that it's possibly the secondary air pressure valve and that its normal for it to make that noise. Luckily I knew the service guy at the dealership and didn't get charged. But now I'm stuck with the clanking noise and not sure what to do. I told the dealership that it gets really loud from time to time. But when I took it in that day it didn't even come close to what the video produced and said they can't do anything about until I can replicate the noise in the video to determine what it is. I'm still under the powertrain warranty. But can't do anything about it.

There's definitely an extra "fluttery" noise in there that I don't believe my 3.0L engine has. And the clicking noise seems louder, too. As you moved toward the firewall, however, the noise seemed to become less "fluttery" and more "exact" or clearly-defined (the 'clicking', I mean).

Tell you what - I'll take the same exact video of my 3.0L engine this weekend and we can compare the two. When did you take your video? Was it with a cold engine, right after start-up, or was it after returning from a trip, and if so ... how long was that trip?

My 2012 Cruze LT makes a similar clicking sound. When the car was new it was silent at idle, but a few weeks later I came to a stop with the window open and there it was. Took it to the dealership and the tech stuck his head in for a few seconds - said it's definitely the high pressure fuel pump in conjunction with the injectors.

The noise is loudest in the same location that yours is at the end of the video.

I can only hear the clicking when the car is idling and the window is down - no hint of it while driving.

Could be a lifter, and am on my 4th vehicle with direct injection. They all have clicky injectors. Doesn’t sound like injectors... too mechanical.
Sounds like 1 ‘device’ making the noise along with the other sounds.
Fuel pressure pump ... isn’t it in the fuel tank?

I’d investigate it more.
Check oil level
Pop the engine cover off and see if it’s more obvious after.

Doubt it is valve adjustment as now a days they are self adjusting hydraulic.
Won’t be a push rod with overhead cams

Rocker? Possibility, or damaged spring

You Still Under Engine Warranty??? Go to MyGMC.com Type in Your VIN# & Go to Warranty/Recalls It Will Tell You.
Drain You're Engine Oil*** But, Use a Paint Strainer to Catch "Everything*** (if) You Find a Small Roller Bearing in There it is From Rocker Arm I Think. You "Only" Have to Change Rocker Arm That Has Bearing Missing. After All Oil Has Stopped Dripping **I "Personally" Get Someone to Pour a Full Bottle of 91% Alcohol Right Down the Oil Fill Port While I Hold the Paint Strainer Under the Oil Drain Plug. This Will "Flush" Anything Stuck to the Bottom of the Oil Pan. Sometimes, Small Metallic Pieces Will "Stick" to the Residual Layer Oil at Bottom of Oil Pan. ** Give Alcohol Chance to Completely Evaporate. Then Install Oil Drain Plug**
I Like the Idea of Taking the Engine Cover Off First.
Good Luck! Let Us Know How it Goes.

Here's my 2011 3.0L Engine with 115.5k miles. This is a cold start this morning after sitting 50+ hours. The oil has 3200 miles on it.

Turns out - it sounds very much like *your* video! I think the phone audio makes it sound different/worse than it does in-person/live.

UPDATE: I just listened to the two videos back-to-back 3 times, and clearly - antiks' engine has a more defined "CLICK" noise to it. Could it be the valves slapping against the heads as they open and close? And if that's what it is - what would prevent *any* engine from making that noise? You'd think you'd hear it on every engine. Could it be the surface the valves are closing against?

I hope so - yours makes the 2.4L sound like a quiet engine compared to your video.

I went back and listened to original video.
It also sounds like the purge valve.

Some purge valves make a ticking sound on the 3.6s.
My 13 does it.
My 23 does it.
The 23 had a tech bulletin, about the ticking sound traveling along and sound being amplified. And could be heard in the cabin...
There was a 'fix'.
Eventhough my 23 was brand new...and i could have had it done for free, i just ordered the parts and installed them myself.
Cheaper and done right the 1st time vs taking it in, dropping off, getting ride home etc.

Ive pondered doing this to my 13.
But my wife literally said, what ticking?
After 12 yrs of driving it.....
I hear it.... she doesnt.
