Does anyone know where the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located on a 2010 3.0? I believe it's the cause of a P0017 code and I have a replacement sensor but for the live of me I cannot locate it on the engine. Thanks for any help.

You'd think. I crawled around, under and over that engine for nearly 45 minutes yesterday and couldn't find it. I'll try again today.
Sorry ! :banghead: Maybe yours fell off - hence the CEL ! LOL

Alright. I just spent another good half-hour combing the drivers side and firewall side of the engine and found nothing that looks like the crankshaft sensor in my hand. The sensor is an AC-Delco part (#213-4573) that I bought from RockAuto so I'm reasonably sure it's the right one. Sure would be great to have a picture or drawing of where it's located. HELP!

The sensors are above the top of the serpentine belt; the shop manual seems to show them 3-4" above. The
top of the belt goes over pulleys so it it is roughly horizontal at the top.

Humm, sounds like you were sent on a wild goose chase. Hope this one is correct.

I had it scanned at AutoZone and it came back as a P0017 and a P0420. The P0420 is a catalyst efficiency low bank 1 and the P0017 is a CKP/CMP misalignment. I'm going out on a limb and assuming that the P017 is caused by the P0420. I've already tried replacing the cam position sensors and that did not help so now I'm going to try the crank sensor. For around $30 total for the sensors I might be able to avoid a larger bill at the garage.

Ok. Good luck.
