Just curious why people chose the Equinox over the Terrain?

Better styling......No grill that would need to be immediately removed from my car

Terrain has better interior imo, but Equinox has better lines, and w/o chrome package has less fake chrome on it

If you cannot tell I dont like chrome LOL (debadged the weekend I purchased it)

Took the Terrain for the test drive and couldn't get over the styling. it's a personal thing.

Didn't care for the red gauge lighting since I had a couple of Pontiacs with it.

So overall it was only cosmetic things. But when it comes to full size trucks I pick the GMC over the Chevy every time.

It had all the options that I wanted without having to pay for an SLE-2 package. So basically, I didn't have to get a bunch of stuff that I didn't want just to get the stuff that I did. Weird how they package items differently between the two brands..

The Terrain was released some time after the current Nox and was in short supply when I was car shopping. The dealer I bought my Nox from actually had one on the lot, but it was already sold. And to be quite honest...I really didn't like the huge grill and squared fenders when it first came out, but it has grown on me a bit.

Re: What made you choose the NOX rather than the Terrain?

Chromed Brick Wall Facia
Squared Off Wheel Openings
Plain Jane Taillights

The very things I dislike about the Terrain...
are the very things I adore about our Avalanche

I didn't consider the Terrain before purchasing the Equinox; that said, the look of the Terrain has definitely grown on me. I see one, almost daily, at my gym; its blacked-out w/ custom wheels and it looks really sharp!

The reason I didn't consider (choose, per the OP) the Terrain was there were none on the road (that I saw) in Scottsdale; not at the GMC dealers nor anywhere else. I'm now seeing 1 or 2 Terrain's on the road per month in addition to the parked vehicle mentioned, above.

Like anything and everything else, its a matter of personal preference. While I personally like the fluid lines of the Equinox the Terrain is extremely cool; between the two, I think the Terrain would be a lot more fun to pimp-out. >:D

My wife and I prefered the clean sporty flowing sculptured lines of the Equinox rather than the more radical pieced together added-on appearance of the Terrain. Both are eye catching..but for very different reasons. Some are thrilled with the Terrain style..while others consider it over done for a smaller CUV. We fall in the latter category.

"Price" first and foremost. I think these things are overpriced to begin with and I didn't want to tack on another grand or two on top of that for the GMC equivalent. Not sure what that extra cost buys with the Terrain, but I'm sure some of it is just the letters "G" "M" "C".

Plus, at first at least - I really didn't like the more boxy body style of the Terrain. But I've seen more of them around town now and I'm starting to like it more. In fact, I'm starting to see the Equinox body style as kind of plain now. :D

Thanks for asking this... I never even looked at a Terrain until you did.

Not liking the square over-wheel fender flares, nor the boxy front end. Wouldn't have bought it, even without the 'Nox to compare it to.

As you can see, this Terrain owner is a pansy. Maybe all Terrain owners are. Can't say the same for Nox owners. I chose my Nox because the colors and options packages were not available in the Terrain, and were in my LT2.
Colors are exactly the same on both; a couple just have different names such as Silver Ice Metallic and Quicksilver Metallic---------------same color different name.

I actually would have got the Terrain over the Equinox if we would have had a descent GMC dealer nearby. My GMC dealer here in town struggles to keep their BBB rating at D- and has earned quite a reputation over the years. They sell a lot of vehicles so GM looks the other way.

Terrain looked very boxy to me. It doesn't look bad just that the Equinox looked better.

It's weird to me but the Terrain should be the Chevy and the Equinox should be the GMC. Only say that because of the full size trucks. The Silverado has squared fender and quarter openings and the Sierra has rounded fender and quarter openings. Just thought as a "brand" styling goes, it would follow. Of course the front ends would have been swapped but that's just me thinking....
