Hello my name is George

I recently bought a 2011 Equinox LS AWD with 150,000K on it and have started working on getting it running better. I am going to be replacing the upper and lower catalytic converters/sensors soon. After discovering how much oil it burns through, I found the info on the oil consumption issues with those engines. I was told the catalytic converts have gone bad most likely because of this issue.

Over all though I really like this vehicle.

Hi Everyone!

I'm Eric! I'm a loyal chevy fan. I just picked up my brand new (to me) 2014 Equinox LS

I enjoyed my time in cruzetalk.com but alas a car seat doesn't fit that well and it was about that time that maintenance would get significant. At 90000 kms and an Oil Cooler needed to be replaced and I had finally worn the original brakes. I hope to learn as much here as I did there about my Cruze.

Hi, everyone! Mark here from Texas. My wife has driven Suburbans for the past 18 years as we have four kids. Now that almost all of our kids are driving themselves, she decided it was time to downsize. She wanted a vehicle that was easier to park, but loved the comfort of her Suburban. The Equinox was a perfect "best of both worlds" vehicle for her. The interior is spacious while the exterior is so much smaller than what she was used to. We found a great deal on a 2018 Premiere with about 11K miles. We both love it and are looking forward to using it on our upcoming Spring Break road trip.

I've found the forum very helpful so far as we wondered why our iPhones wouldn't charge and was looking for suitable options for roof rack crossbars. I look forward to contributing back as I learn more about this great vehicle.

Just picked up a used 2017 Equinox Premier AWD 2.4 this afternoon. The wife's 2006 Cadillac CTS is still a great car and we are keeping it, but she wanted something a little more capable and new for our rural living. Nice follow up to the 2015 Chevy 2500HD I got.

New guy here. I have a 2018 Equinox Premium, 16 months and 10,000 miles. I'm a retired Navy pilot who did a lot of operational helicopter test flying. I have had no luck talking to an Equinox design engineer to discuss several issues. I brought up some issues and Chevy gave me a $200 gift certificate - got roof rack cross bars. Never contacted by a design engineer. The first issue is the front seats. I am catching so much crap from my wife for trading in her 14 year old Lexus RX330. In test driving an Equinox I missed how uncomfortable the seats and ride were in comparison to the Lexus. We live in a small mountain town with a Chevy dealer so I wanted to buy local. If you buy the Premium model, Chevy should upgrade the seats and smooth out the suspension. Missed this - my bad. Reviewing the FORUM, Chevy should respond. Even the car reviews ding the seats. Second is the All Wheel Drive button. How many times have you accidentally hit this button and drove in AWD when you didn't need to. The tiny red light on the switch is hard to see. Chevy needs to put a "notice" in you line of sight. Also, you have to go to the Home page to see the OAT. I like to hook up my phone for the GPS and this blocks out the OAT. Overall, I like the design and all the bells and whistles in the 2018. Problem as I said, wife hates the seats so I might have to trade it in.

Newbie here, new to Equinox. I am looking at buying a 2012, 4cyl, FWD, Equinox LT with 116000 miles. Was told by dealer that the timing chain was just replaced, no other history available. It runs and drives great, what should I be concerned about, I have heard about TSBs concerning oil use and possible dealer warranty to address the issue? What maintenance should have already been done and what should I expect in the near future? Was 2012 a good year for Equinox? Thanks in advance

No other history they want to tell you about.

what should I be concerned about?
That you are looking at buying a 2012, 4cyl, FWD, Equinox LT with 116000 miles.

what should I expect in the near future?
In the near future you should expect constant trips to the dealer. After that, once any warranty coverage expires, you should expect large repair bills from the dealer.

Was 2012 a good year for Equinox?
It was good for the dealerships.

But seriously - I drive up and down the East Coast a few times every year. I see tons of early-model 4-cylinder Equinoxes on the road. In fact, 99% of them are 4-cylinder models. Rarely, if ever, see a V6 like I own. So they’re out there - running. And every time I catch someone in a parking lot with a 4-cylinder model, I ask them if they’ve had any problems - and every time they say, “NO! It’s a great car! We LOVE IT!”

But I still wouldn’t buy one -used-, with an unknown repair history - and certainly not a 2010-2013 model. No way. Find a V6 model or buy something else.

Hey there! Just picked up a used 2018 Equinox LS last week with about 20k miles! Still smells like new car haha. Got it as the family vehicle and so far we all like it. I have a couple of things I plan on upgrading, and some simple exterior "mods" I plan on doing. Has anyone upgraded the LS halogens to LED or HID? Hows the output compared to stock? In addition to the Equinox, we have a 2013 Spark, 2012 Cruze, and a 1988 Camaro IROC-Z! I look forward to sharing more pix of the Equinox when I get it where I want it!

Just sold my 2010 Malibu and purchased a 2017 Equinox LT. I'll be doing some small cosmetic changes (I really don't get Chevy's obsession with the gold bowtie, it would look better in literally ANY other color) and will likely hardwire dash cameras and a radar detector at some point, as well as changing out virtually all lighting. Love it so far, and I really look forward to changing a headlight bulb without ripping the entire bumper off.

Hi! I own a 2011 Equinox that has the backup cam in the rear view mirror. It has gotten fuzzy. A few months ago it was blurry for a couple days and it just fixed itself one day. Now it’s like a static like picture.

Hi all - I drove a 2008 Malibu 2LT until it was totaled after hitting a deer on I-80. So, I just purchased a 2018 Equinox 1LT in Storm Blue Metallic with 30K miles as my replacement. I have to tell you, I am really liking it. I'm hoping it will last me a long, long time.
