I bought a 2006 used about 3 months ago. Recently, after a week of steady rain I found water sitting in the bottom of the spare tire compartment and a strong mildew odor inside the vehicle  I have a copy of the service bulletin that tells you where to check for various water leaks and I'm going to pick up some of the recommended 3M body sealer. What is the most common place I should check first to stop water from leaking into the spare tire compartment?

Not sure where the spare tire is held in the 2006, but you'll just have to check both the window and door seals. I'd probably try sitting inside the vehicle while someone else showers the car with a garden hose on the outside. You might be able to see exactly where the water is trickling in this way.

I would also recommend contacting your local dealership for more assistance. They should be able to assist you further and have a plan for addressing the issue. I can also look into this issue further. In order to do more research, I will need some more specific information from you such as your name, address, phone number, the VIN for the vehicle, and current mileage. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me either on the thread or via private message. Thank you.
