Recently had error code p0013. Took my 2012 GMC Terrain to shop and had VVT solenoids replaced. The old one had little metal shavings on it. Should I be concerned? What could it be?

I was just at a shop and he told me that if you find them with metal on them to trade the car in ASAP. What happened with yours? I'm sure after 6yrs you're probably gone.

Yup, he was last seen on the day he made that post in 2016.

I’m surprised this post never got a reply back in 2016. Maybe it was posted around the time the Forum got revamped, and it got lost in the shuffle?

I don’t know if metal shavings in those Solenoids means get rid of the vehicle ASAP, but if I owned one of those early 2.4L engines I’d probably be checking/cleaning them routinely to keep the oil flowing through them!
