Voluntary Recall

I just received notice that my 2011 LTZ 2.4L is being recalled due to an emission issue. They claim the camshaft position actuator solenoid may stick, causing rough idle, stalling at low throttle, illumination of the malfunction light and poor driveability. The dealer will reprogram the engine control module and replace the camshaft actuator solenoid valves. I know many have complained about some of these issues so it's good GM is finally trying to fix the issue.

You may want to follow this thread. It's all about various issues but there is extensive talk about the recall.

I took mine in today to have the issue fixed. they reset the engine control module and now the rpm scale goes to about 4.5 when i go from 0-50 is that normal? i had the dealer look at it and they said it was, but it is very strange to me as this hasnt happened before. this only started after having the engine module rest. any help? :help:

that does seem strange to me. Make sure they "updated" the ECM, not just reset it.
They said it is driving fine so i dont know, good thing i have the warranty and gap coverage so if something goes wrong...it can be replaced!

I would recommend keeping an eye on the vehicle. If you feel that it is getting worse, I would recommend contating your local dealer. Feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions in the meantime. Thank you.

I would still have it checked out again. Try calling another dealership and just request that they double check your work order to make sure it was done correctly. It shouldn't be a problem for them to check it. I don't know why it's so hard for some dealers to follow this stupid recall. Like, seriously, Tricia, I really hope you relay that message somehow, to anybody that can make whatever change is necessary, it's getting kind of ridiculous.

Do you just mean the car goes up to 4500rpm, since it goes out to like 8000rpm you have nothing to worry about. It will perform differently with shift points and how hard you press the pedal. The faster you accelerate the higher the RPMs will get in each gear. The PCM update likely changed the transmission shift points or maybe you are comparing normal vs ECO mode. ECO mode will likely shift earlier so it doesnt get as high of RPM.
i called my dealer today regarding the latest recall 11195a that i've been hearing about on the forum, dealer says they have never heard anything about a recall. I'm in California, maybe it hasn't started out here yet? I sure hope one comes for my Terrain.

I haven't received a volunteer recall letter, but yet I was able to get it done at my local dealer. I wonder if they remove you from their mailing list if you have it done before your letter is mailed?
I didnt receive the voluntary letter, also asked GM and My dealer to do the recall...they were both clueless...this was 2 weeks ago, and again yesterday...haha...ya just got to laugh.. :banghead:
You know it is insulting how some Service Departments treat you when you ask or relay to them information that you have. Some treat you like you are in Goodfellas, like we are amusing them or insulting them. I was a Service Writer for VW and when a customer had info and or a concern, I treated he/she like an adult, they may know something I did not know, so we looked into the problem together, they felt good and so did I. I could give the dealers I met some training. They need an attitude adjustment.

The service rep I had in July never called me. For the record. And when I tried calling them, I would leave a message, and they never called back. That's when the dealership was lying to me about work being performed, when it actually had not. This was proven by simply checking the odometer. Is there a way I can fill out a "report" or form about this specific dealership. I know that GM sends out surveys but I haven't gotten one from them, and they KNOW I'm unhappy, so I'm sure they wouldn't volunteer to send ME one.

The work on mine had been done mid-July. (before recall had been issued) It was processed through the warranty system, basically just to show it's been done so that I wouldn't get letters about it, on August 23rd when my car was in for something else. I ended up getting the letter in the next week. So, I'm thinking they have mailed them kind of in phases, since there are so many of them.

Have had engine hesitations the past couple weeks and the engine light came on today. Called OnStar and was told it was an emissions issue and to have the car serviced within 7 days. I haven't received any recall letters, but I suspect this is the same issue.

I'm sure it is. That is exactly how my car went through the process as well. If the codes are P0011 and/or P0014 - you're spot on. Have you called your dealer yet to ask if your vehicle is in the recall? If not, refer them to PI0469 for Intermittent check engine light with poor driveability and rough idle (to include possible stalling at low throttle opening). It's the exact same repair as the recall, and this bulletin is for a very specific build date range, I believe 2/17/11 - 6/6/11. This bulletin was released in June, the recall was issued end of July I think, so even though the Recall doesn't list a build range, I suspect it's the same range as in PI0469.

Anyways, you should be good. Whenever I had OnStar check out my check engine light, they told me it was for poor driveability rough idle and to service it within 7 days. The recall was issued for emissions concerns mostly, so that may be why you got that response from OnStar.
