Bought a 2011 Terrain recently. I started out using my Iphone connected through the USB port to play music but the volume level is low, so I switched to using the Lacie USB flash to copy my music to and play through the USB port. Problem now is I can't dock my Iphone in a cradle and keep it charged through the USB port because the USB port is being used by the memory stick.

Anybody know if it's possible to use a splitter so that I can play music from the memory stick while continuing to keep my Iphone charged? Thanks in advance.

I guess what I'm asking is if anyone has already attempted to use a splitter (or hub) to connect a flash stick AND an Iphone at the same time and play music from the flash drive while keeping the phone charged. Trying to avoid being a guinea pig here.

My recommendation would be to buy a USB Car Charger. It plugs into the power outlet and charges any USB device you plug into it. If you used that power outlet for something else, you can buy a splitter for the power outlet. They even make a power outlet splitter with USB charging ports built in. For instance, I have one that turns one power outlet into two plus two usb charging ports.

Just a thought.

unccman, I also have that setup in another vehicle where I power a portable gps unit and an ipod. However, I was hoping to keep this setup a little "cleaner" and not have wires running all over the place. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Does the Terrain not have a AUX/USB + Power Outlet inside the center console like the Equinox does? Keep that lid closed and it will always be clean :)

Now there's a thought...

I like the idea of a USB Hub as well though

You know, some days my brain just doesn't work right. Yes, this is the simplest method, and the cheapest, since I already have an Iphone car charger.

It might be the "best" idea as well.....Not sure how durable the Aux/USB module is, but on my work nox (out of warranty due to mileage) it was $602.00 to replace the module because it was inop, and doing a google search shows several post of peopling having similar issues of the module going out.

Its a company car, so I didnt pay for it...I think its was 280.00 in parts for the module.

Ouch. This did worry me a bit as I plan on leaving a flash drive in there and I'm afraid I (or more likely a friend) will hit it and knock it loose, etc. I'm thinking of buying a new "mini" flash drive that only sticks out like 1/4" rather than 2". Anybody tried this?

...and does anybody know if there's a size limit for the flash drive? like less than 16 gb or anything like that?
