2011 Equinox 2.4 cylinder with the t45 transmission, Failed. Only owned the car for one week and only has 200 miles on it. Transmission would not shift out of low gear, couldn't go more than 20 mph. Had to push the Onstar button and got towed to the nearest dealership. Showed to codes for transmission problems. The tech found nothing wrong, found no TSB's, flushed transmission and said it could have had a piece of flashing or something stuck in it. Drove home and working fine but still very worried.

I've read about certain transmission problems on this board but at the dealership nothing came up for a TSB. Please, anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I be worried?

If it were me, I would closely monitor it, and raise Holy Hell if I detect ANY problem. Keep your fingers crossed.

I've seen some posts about jerky shifting and such with the 2010/2011 transmission that was fixed with a firmware flash, but this is the first failure I've seen reported on any forum. But even so, I guess this couldn't be considered a real failure since it's working fine now and nothing was replaced ??? Even so, I would take the advice above, and if it so much as hiccups again I would demand a new transmission at the dealership.

Yes well maybe not a failure but it sure felt like it at the time. The more research I do the more I'm coming up with a stuck clutch pressure control solenoid which won't allow the transmission to shift. Which is the code p0776.
It just felt terrible having a brand new car with only 200 or so miles on it and only a week old, break down and have to be towed.

I shouldn't have to have my fingers crossed driving a brand new car, geeeze.

I would say if there's going to be a problem, be thankful you had it now. Warranty is in full force. The worst thing would be to have a problem at 36,100 miles.

The codes were p0700 and p0776, clutch pressure control pc solenoid stuck? Could this just be a fluke and fixed with the flush?
Certainly a piece of plastic or other contaminant could cause a solenoid to stick.
Flushing the tranny fluid may eliminate it permanently.
Definitely stay on top of it, however, and thanks for posting.

Thanks to all the replies. Gearhead that's what I'm hoping too. The tech said it could have been something like that and it may never happen again. Still nervous, I'll let it be known if it happens again, thanks!

I would also have to agree with previous posts. I would recommend keeping a close eye on it and contacting the dealership back right away if you are finding that you are having similar problems. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you.

i took my terrain to the dealership because of the " jerky shifting" and they said that it is because of how the vehicle is ... it trys to get to the next gear or downshift because it not use some much rpm so that the vehicle can save more gas ... i asked them about the "flashing" the transmission and they said if computer isn't saying any codes that it is point less to do that .... im wondering if get it flushed with new fluid and try to see if they will reflash it hopefully it will make it work better. but i really don't want to have to pay for it cause i don't think that its my fault for it to act the way that it does... also the tech at the dealership had told me that the car ecu trys to "learn" the person who is driving and if the person before drive's with a heavy front that if someone else drives it that it will feel different ... im really a lost on what to do and i really feel like im getting to run around and them just telling me that it is fine but i know its not fine .... i don't know if you have any insight for me let me know thanks

Maybe the tech should drive it around while you are the passenger to identify? Then get in a new one on the lot and see if does the same? I think you are getting the run around and work it through the service manager next time? There is NO learning as shifting is programmed.

where do you get firm ware from
Davidbenner--You're asking for information from a thread/post that is over six years old. teetertotter hasn't posted on the forum since 2015.
Please - let’s not follow JayTee2014’s lead and start “correcting” people who post on a 1, 2, 3, even 6-year-old thread! It’s a valid question and he put it in a transmission thread (probably after searching the forum).

I think he’s just asking a general question about firmware (not replying to anyone in particular) because NoobNox made reference to a “firmware flash” earlier in the thread, and he’s got a suspected transmission problem. Nothing wrong with that.

The answer is: firmware is the program in the vehicle’s computer and it comes from the manufacturer through the dealer. The dealer “flashes” (or updates) your computer when changes to the firmware become available from the manufacturer.

What's your issue with JayTee2014???? I find this response pertaining to him as kind of childish.

We are a group that is better than this. At least I thought we were all adults.

Therefore. CUT THE CRAP OUT! Clear enough????

Read the history. *I'm* the one who's the adult.

Colt--I interpreted DavidBenner's question as being directed to a specific individual, eg, where did YOU get the firmware? Didn't want himto feel ignored if he didn't get a response to his question.

And I agree, there are old threads here that have pertinent information, or that raise a current question. I have resurrected some of them myself---but when I do I acknowledge that it is an old thread just to avoid any misconceptions/mis-perceptions or confusion.

Sorry--didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers!
