This is quite odd...but I've noticed it pretty much since I got my 2010 Terrain. It's a 2.4 SLT with NAV.

If I'm out in my garage, where the Terrain is parked, every so often I will notice a high pitched tone for a few seconds. It isn't that loud, but it seems to be related to the car somehow. I'm sure it happens on a periodic basis, because as I was doing some work on my motorcycle, it reoccurred about 3 or 4 times in a few hours. The first time I thought I just had ringing in my ears, but then it happened several more times and I isolated it to the car. Ever since, I still notice it routinely.

Anyone else notice this, and know what it might be? It doesn't seem harmful, but it is still very strange. ???

My Nox does this, and others have noticed as well. Someone either here or at another forum offered up an explanation a while back but I can't remember exactly what it was. In any case it's normal..

Thanks. I guess that's good that it's normal at least. Really odd though! The noise definitely had me scratching my head the first time. The second or third time I isolated it.

Ditto When the Nox is off I have noticed the high pitch sound. Maybe the Noise reduction system?
