Was doing some work tonight on the BCM and decided to work on the top speed limiter, the top speed limiter on the 2010 (and should be 2011) 2.4L is at 190KPH just so you guys dont have to go test it! Mine however is now at 300KPH LOL
yeah ? let's see you prove it to us ! :-XGTPprix said:Mine however is now at 300KPH LOL
I see- I had to let go at 176 - my old car was at 169 so was surprised when it easily passed 170 with no issues. It was nice stretch of road in desert with no cars in sight but a turn was coming up and I didn't have the cajones to try it 2nd timeGTPprix said:2.4L is at 190KPH just so you guys dont have to go test it!
So, if you ran GM, you would have them set all speed limiters at 100 KMH ? Hum, I wonder how many veicles you would sell !BigBlarg said:May I ask what is the use of a speed limiter at 190kmh when we are not supposed to go over 100kmh? ???
Didn't the Fed's try that in the late seventies...making manufactures put 85 MPH speedometers in all the cars? Like it was going to slow every one down?RIT333 said:So, if you ran GM, you would have them set all speed limiters at 100 KMH ? Hum, I wonder how many veicles you would sell !

That's right. Makes you wonder why they do run speedometers to such a high number. Apparently, the 85 max never slowed people down.jstpsntym said:Didn't the Fed's try that in the late seventies...making manufactures put 85 MPH speedometers in all the cars? That's not what I meant. Why put it at all if it's gonna be so high?RIT333 said:So, if you ran GM, you would have them set all speed limiters at 100 KMH ? Hum, I wonder how many veicles you would sell !

I think that it is usually set at the speed rating of the tires that come as original equipment. For that same reason, it is illegal for a shop to sell you or install any tires that have less af a speed rating from what the OEM tires were that came on your car. I don't think you can reach that with Equinox even with limiter disabledRIT333 said:to 180 MPH,
Not even close. My Corvette can get to around 175 mph before Mr. Wind Resistance steps in. My tires are rated to 186. The ZR-1 can top 200 but any vehicle capable of those speeds spends a looong time getting those last few mph's. Unless your piloting, say, a Bugatti Veyron. They are just scary fast but at close to $2,000,000 not a lot of people get to own one.equinox2 said:I don't think you can reach that with Equinox even with limiter disabledThat's 288KMH. 190KMH is about 119MPH

That, IMHO, would be a waste of money. Why not start with something that has some omph to begin with and go from there. i.e. a VetteBlack Granite LTZ said:I hear ya. But it would be interesting to have the budget to drop the Nox/Terrain platform to a few inches off the tarmac, add some aero panels to channel the air efficiently, a splitter up front and a wing at the rear for downforce. THEN build a full blown race version of the V6 with twin turbos and haul that bad boy to the Bonneville Salt Flats and see what it would do. LOL
Maybe...but he did specify Bonneville...a place where there is a category for dang near everything...RIT333 said:That, IMHO, would be a waste of money. Why not start with something that has some omph to begin with and go from there. i.e. a Vette
