So everybody who owns the SLE 1, there is one big speaker in the lift gate area on the right side, correct? Mine's not working. Gotta take it to the dealer.

Yes, I have the fade and balance smack in the middle.

Thanks.

Well from an Audio perspective...

Subwoofers (which that speaker is) enhance bass...as a result their volume output is often misunderstood. The normal Hz range for a "sub" is somewhere generally speaking from 50 to 80 which is very low.

I would suggest you try adjusting your fade to -8

and increase the Bass adjustment to maximum

Then turn the volume up to 12

At this setting almost any music (whatever genres you prefer) should provide sound output to the subwoofer which you would clearly be able to make out.

There is a LOT of music genres that do NOT use a lot of Bass...and as a result...the subwoofer would be close to inactive...giving the impression it is not working

FWIW...if after using the "test" method above you discover your sub indeed does work...you should readjust your output levels to a more neutral sound curve which is pleasant to your ears for whatever type of music you tend to listen to.

That speaker is not intended for sound-system, its for Noise Canceling only.

Thank you for ALL the replies. So, Mocha, are you saying that the speaker will produce output only when necessary because the technology is smart enough to know when the extra boost is needed? Not sure what ANC is so I will look that up.

Well I just discovered what ANC is; my salesperson didn't highlight that feature yet I've been telling everyone what a quiet cabin the SUV has, so now I know why.

So I should not expect sound to come from that speaker because that's not what it's intended for, right? Thanks again.

The 2010 brochure for the base audio system says it is a 6 speaker system. So if I count right : 2 dash level - 2 on front doors 0 2 on each rear door.
That makes sense, RNOX. Thank you everyone. I think this is settled. :)

Only if you have upgraded sound-system. No matter what you do, if you don't have upgraded sound-system, it will not work as you expect.

Thank you. I realize what the capabilities are now of my base stereo system and the ANC feature.

Well just put it this way, you're lucky since the upgraded system which I have in I4 is not that good. What I did is I bought an alpine 117 and it's way better that the premium sound of this system. So disappointed.

Plus 2,
and with the Pioneer you'll have a center speaker and two subs in the back that count as one.

Of course we all have different opinions and hear things differently, but in comparison to the sound system in my '05 Relay I find this base stereo system really good. :)

Of course SM64, your right... where was I at?
I was just going by the diagram. Wonder why GM shows their schematic this way. Kinda weird.
Must be some audio tech lingo I don't understand.
Thanks for the clarity.

That's exactly it!
Dual voice coil sub - two coils on one speaker cone - hence that's why it shows up on the schematic. The V6 models don't require ANC.

So there we go, thanks for the reply.
