I saw on consumer reports that the [email protected] is different from the 4cyl to 6cyl. I realize they have different gear ratios, but the 5th and 6th ratio is the same among transmissions.

Would that not give the same RPM's at 60mph then?

From GM Canada website:
Application: Ecotec 2.4L I-4 3.0L DOHC V6
Gear ratios :)1)
First: 4.58 4.48
Second: 2.96 2.87
Third: 1.91 1.84
Fourth: 1.44 1.41
Fifth: 1.00 1.00
Sixth: 0.74 0.74
Reverse: 2.94 2.88
Final drive ratio: 3.23 (FWD)
3.53 (AWD) 2.77

Re: RPM's at 60mph? Question about gear ratios between models.

No, they should be different if they have a different "final drive ratio". Although they have the same transmission ratio, you must also factor in the gear ratio from the Tranaxle, (similar to a rear-end gear ratio of a rear wheel drive car).

Re: RPM's at 60mph?

FYI using 17'' tires as the example, the calculator gives me the RPM's @60mph for the models:

I4 FWD (3.23) - 1691
I4 AWD (3.53) - 1848
V6 FWD/AWD (2.77) - 1450

18's would be a little more RPM's.
