Took a trip to New York state last week for a few days. Ended up putting around 1400 miles on it. Started the trip with average fuel economy at 23.0 MPG (and it briefly dipped to 22.9 shortly after we started) with about 1000 miles since last reset. Ended trip with 23.4 MPG average. Lots of highway miles but a fair amount of city driving also.
I'll likely not see this to often :

Try zeroing out the avg MPG data at each fill up, and you'll get a better idea of what's going on recently.

yep, could do that but I usually use it for a longer term average. For a shrter time period I hand calculate.

With your method, don't expect to get too much movement on your "avg mpg". Are your calculated avgs increasing in the summer ? Mine definitely are. I have gotten into the low 30s on a couple of 300+ mile trips. I am now very pleased with the MPG of my 4/FWD Equinox.

We've only had ours since Feb so its tough to tell if increase is break-in thing or just warmer temps. In general terms with any of my recent vehicles I usually see the best milage when temps are above 50 F to whatever high temps it gets to without needing A/C on :). I am also reasonably happy with what we are now seeing with the AWD/6 .

Another road trip last week from Northern Ct to Lancaster county PA for a few days. 1146 miles, 43.178 US gals of fuel = 26.5 MPG or so. Not bad for this vehicle. Temps were in the 40's to 60's and mostly fairly flat terrain and I kept it at 60 MPH or under.

I think people have to clear the average speed reading on the DIC to see if they are really doing highway driving. When I look at the DIC I quite often notice that my average speed is a lot less than I thought

I don't have any particular interest in the average speed display, but I suppose it could be useful for something.

Unsure of the conversions from metric/imperial, but during road trips when I first bought my I4/FWD, it would say 5xxkm remaining and would average around 10.5L/100km when travelling at 110km/h on the highway (about 65mph) was NOT happy with that!. Now with 40,000km on the clock (and a K&N CAI) I fill up and get 8xxkm remaining and average around 8.5L/100km on highway. :)

Took a 1640 mile road trip from San Jose, CA to Portland, OR and back. My 4 cyl. Equinox has 6500 miles on it and averaged 26.7 MPG. Three people aboard and used the air conditioner about 40% of the time. Comfortable on the road, quiet at 75 MPG, not much power to pass so you have to plan ahead. Great to have XM radio to stay entertained.

I "0" all the DIC settings. We went to Indianapolis for the first day, with 2 gas stops, which was a 5 hour drive. We went to the Zoo, then drove to the hotel to check-in, then drove back down town to shop, came back to the hotel and went 20 miles to a casino and back. Then gassed the car that evening. The next morning, was a 2 hour drive to Louisville for 3 day stay and driving all over that city. The Dic after 4 days driving said 23.8 mpg on our V6, AWD with 3 gas gas stops. I reset all the DIC settings to "O" for the drive back home this morning and drove 450 miles straight with 3 gas stops and stretch the legs. The DIC with average mpg read 24.3, when we reached home. We did have a slight tail wind the last 1/3 of the trip coming home, as the windmills out in the country were pointing south and we were traveling north.

I am very happy with OEM Latitude Tour tires as I think they help this vehicle with mpg. Tire pressure cold at 80F was 39lbs when we left for vacation. We had the A/C on 1/2 going down and 1/3 back and cruise set at 72 or 75.
Odometer is at 5500 miles.

On this trip, the engine was not babied and drove and punched as required going into traffic from ramps and around traffic. There was just my wife and I and 3 bags in the rear or 100lbs, I would estimate.
