Have had my 11 SRX for 2 weeks now. Love the remote start feature but something bugs me. You can configure the heated seats to come on during remote start. But my driver's seat never feels like the heat is on when I get in the car after a remote start. Not sure if it's just because the heated seats work better when your actually in the seats or if there is a problem. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Like many places, it's been cold in Ohio the past couple of weeks and the remote start has been great for warming up the car. But it's not seeming like the car seats are getting the full benefit.

Thanks

Mine's the same way. I think I read that the seat starts out on low level until you get in the car and insert the key - then you have to manually push the button to continue on whatever heat setting you want. Mine does take about 6 to 8 minutes to fully heat.

My Terrain is the same way, it seems like the driver seat is a little warmer then the back seat but not by much. I think that GM set it up to just warm the seats at a very very low setting.
I do know when I am in the Terrain and have the seat set to low I can only leave it on for a few minutes before I have to turn the heater off, they get warm fast.

Mat, how long has the car been running before you get in? I have at one time started the car about 3 minutes before getting in and the seats are not hot by any streach of the imagination. I don't really start feeling heat for about 6 minutes, then, like Z_Ghost said, I have to set it at the lowest setting.

I didnt check how much time but about 5 to 7 minutes i think... and as my Terrain is always in the garage, when he stay outside and i use the remote starter i really see the difference. When i sit i feel that the seat is hot.

I think that the most I ever let her run after a remote start was 3 min, maybe it needs more time.
I do not want a new motor to idle more then that and it was 31* that night so maybe it needs to be colder then that too.

On a side note it's 72* right now.

Thanks for all the feedback. I've experienced a couple of things since I first posted this. First, I do believe the amount of time does make a difference as has been suggested. The last time I did it I waited about 10 minutes and sure enough the seats were a little warmer than I experienced previously. Second, there must be differences between seats. I had a passenger in one of my back seats the other day and as soon as he got in after a remote start he said "wow, this seat is hot". So for some reason my rear seats seem to heat up quicker than the driver's seat. Wish it was reversed. Oh well.

Thanks

I didn't think that any of our vehicles had heated rear seats. Maybe it was warm from the heater blowing on it.

In the SRX you have the option of heated rear seats. Terrain and Equinox don't. But you can buy the elements used in the front for the back through GM.

There was a thread by a guy that used an infrared gun to really make sure that the seats were on. In the end, the heated seat was about 30 degrees warmer than the non-heated rear seats.

Ive been looking for it but cant find the thread.

I remember the thread on that too, It might have been that guy who posted heavy for the first month and then deleted his account & all his posts & threads.

That was SnowItch. He had a row with another member and left with his hundreds of posts, might have been nearly 1000.
He did a lot of testing and pictorials that left with him.
