Yes. There is a Hard Drive that it records to. You can definitely record from CD's. I'm not sure about an IPod. In an earlier car I had I could not record from my IPod, but think that was more of an Apple restriction. I'm not sure if Apple has eased that restriction and/or perhaps there are ways around it? I now have a Droid and I can definitely record the songs from my Droid to my SRX's HDD (I think that's what's called - Hard Disk Drive?).
As a side note, I really like this HDD feature because you can copy all your music you have on your computer to your car and organize it. You don't need to pop CD's in and out all the time.
