does the overlay only work on models that have the navigation option? i cannot get it to work on my mirror camera?

I have read somewhere that it only shows up with the Nav package. Sometimes it will ocassionally pop up in my mirror. I do not have the Nav.

If the overlay your talking about is the grid that shows the direction the vehicle is traveling in reverse, then it is only on the Nav screen as I was told by the dealer.

That is the correct, from what I was told and what it says in the owner's manual of the 2010 Equinox.

To turn the guidelines on or off:
1. Shift into P (Park).
2. Press the CONFIG button.
3. Select Display.
4. Select Guidelines. When a
check mark appears next to the
Guidelines option, guidelines will
appear.
