Difficult to do, as any excess will flow out the fill plug. Just pull the plug, let it drain to a small dribble and put the plug back in. Worst case the oil will become aerated, reduce protection or forced out the diff vent.

Thanks. It was difficult for me tell when it was actually running out of the hole, I need to get a pump. Hard place to get to without a lift or jack stands.

WHAT about the transfer case? Can that get over filled?

Did the trans fluid also and it was pretty dark but not burnt. Will be doing that again soon.

Same for diff. I would be more concerned about under filling them. You can buy squeeze bottles or flexible fluid packs and use a hose to reach those tight spots. A pan to catch any overfill that drips down. I can't imagine doing it without it on a lift or at least jack stands. In that case I would just pay shop to drain and refill.
Think I will next time. Trying to save money and I'm not against doing it.
