While my 2015 Equinox LTZ has a black plastic pad on the rear bumper, there is a 1/4" gap of paint. The other day loading or un-loading a box containing a very heavy treadmill that 1/4" of paint took a hit. I plan to try to fix the damage with touchup paint tomorrow, but I would love to install a shield on that 1/4" of paint so to avoid future damage. Any suggestions?

I had a 2003 Dodge Durango that had a similar set up for the rear bumper. The upper edge of the painted fascia was exposed and easily damaged.

I now have a 2015 Expedition Limited and the rear bumper has a black pad that wraps over the top of the bumper fascia, protecting the painted portion. An excellent design.

A family member has a 2013 Equinox and I always thought the bumper pad design was poor.

I have no ideas on how to improve it.
