Hey everyone,

I have a Escort radar detector. Everyone who owns one knows that the mute button is near the power outlet, which is a reach sometimes on the terrain.

My friend has a Subaru STI and got something called a "invisicord"

http://www.invisicord.com/index.html

It basically runs power from his rear view mirror so that nasty looking power cord doesn't run all the way down his dash like mine does on the Terrain. It keeps the detector up high and somewhat stealth (by the sun visor)

Does anyone who knows about electrical components know if the Terrain's powered rear view mirror is able to be split and inserted via the inviscord?

Well I emailed invisicord and they will be sending me a unit provided I do a review. I will include pictures and a possible video when I receive the cord.

This is a pretty cool thing because it powers your escort or valentine radar detector, turns off with the car, and leaves the cigarette lighter open to power other things.

Now, if you want to go all out, get a mount for your radar detector right under your rearview mirror, like http://countryjoycrafts.com/350Z/ConnectorForRadarDetector.html

but I'm not spending that kind of money on a mount lol!

I'll keep anyone who's interested posted

holy crap $30?!?!

i simply used some silver satin phone cord (single pair), and used splices to tap the power up there...total cost -$0.00, cause i had it all...either way, if i went to a store it would cost under $10....

$30??

You must be looking at something else...I got mine for $19 with a built in fuse in case the fuse that connects to the mirror blows

It's $15 for a regular one, $5 more for the fuse

got a valentine one installed with a blendmount and invisicord. Works well but if you do not run it on the right side of the detector where it plugs in and under the plastic trim piece on the rear view mirror it will not be long enough. Also when I put the terrain into reverse it cuts the power to the detector. Not sure as to why this is but I could only find one power wire in the connector so I didn't have another option. I think it may have to do with the backup camera feature that is built into the mirror. I have an SLT2 with Nav so my rear view does not have the camera in it.
