Has anyone installed the reccomended THULE foot Packs and adapter kits for Equinox 2010 factory rails?
According to their website you need:

430 Tracker II Foot Pack -> http://www.thule.com/en/CA/Products/BaseRacks/Feet/1020.aspx

TK10 Fit kit -> http://www.thule.com/en/CA/sitecore/content/Primary%20Product%20Hierarchy/Thule%20Products/ProductCategory_5010/ProductSubCategory_5016/ProductFamily_176109/15538.aspx

I have an existing THULE rack system that fits on my Mazda 3 Sport for carrying two Kayaks and want to use it on the Equinox. When we were shopping for new cars we were only looking at vehicles that were able to accommodate the Hullavator system and the Equinox was one of them. All we had to do was replace the Feet and get the "Fit Kit".

I'm using their THULE Hullavator system to carry two kayaks. My wife and I are short so we need this Hullavator system to easily get the Kayaks on and off the car, especially on something as high as the Equinox. Link to the Hullavator -> http://www.thule.com/en/CA/Products/Watersports/WatersportCarriers/18974.aspx

Now for the problem: The THULE dealer couldn't get the "Fit Kit" to install on to the factory rails. The plastic moulding around the metal rack is getting in the way. It seems like the metal clamps are about 1/8 of an inch to short. The THULE dealer will be calling the THULE manufacture directly on Monday but I would really like to be armed with as much information as possible. Especially if someone was able to get it to work.

I did do a search on this site and the closest thing I was able to find was what jbsails posted about his bike rack but those footpads won't work for me because there wouldn't be enough space separating the cross bars. Link to JBSAILS post http://www.equinoxforum.net/index.php?topic=634.0 I'm also not sure if those footpads can handle the sideways pressure the Hullavator system would put on it.

NOTE: the Hullavator cannot be installed on the factory cross bars.

Here's an update... My local THULE dealer is now saying the "Fit" department is now saying what they sent won't work.

What we ended up doing is getting the Yakima RailGrab and a Yakima cross bar (had to go with the longer 58 inch bars because the two kayaks will be laying flat beside each other not stacked on their side). The Thule Hullavators then fit on the round bars.

We've been driving around all over the place with the Hullavators on the racks since last Saturday because we plan on using them this weekend. Yesterday when my wife got to work the front racks were tilted back about 45 degrees. What happened was the force of the wind and the weight of the Hullavators made the bars rotate in the socket of the footpads (that is why I liked the square bars from Thule). Shouldn't be too big of a deal. We probably just didn't tighten them down enough. Also, once we get the kayaks on, it won't be able to rotate anyway.

The Yakima RailGrabs fit the factory rails very well.
