My wife and I picked up a carbon black SLT-1 2.4L AWD 2 weeks ago. This will be our family vehicle and we hope to run it into the ground. I drive an 08 GMC Sierra 2500 with the duramax and she drives not only the terrain but also a pontiac solstice. We purchased the vehicle for not only its design but also for the AWD aspect with new england winters, the mpg rating and its safety rating.
Between city/highway driving, we're averaging 21.7 mpg which I feel is pretty good for a non-hybrid SUV. Our first road trip (130 miles round trip) was to the cape this past weekend. I kept the speeds below 70 and the A/C off (I noticed the A/C steals a bit of power on these 4 cylinders) and we averaged 28.3 mpg with mostly highway driving.
