New to posting here not sure how to upload the video. long story short, dealing with maybe a lifter tick? Sounds more like a Piston slapping? Take the oil cap off while it’s running, seems like alot of blow by also hear pinging and slapping like a piston is slapping, obviously when cold it is louder but when warm it’s still there. I never had done any past work with this car so I never woulda thought anything until I did take the cap off. Mind you, I’ve never ever had issues with all my own vehicles with doing oil changes then hearing piston slap sounds. I’ve told her to always try to run 91, in that car. normally a Kwik trip go figure. So she owns the car fully. From my experiences, it’s a ticking time bomb at this point. Anyone ever deal with this before? It’s a perfect milf mobile but hell, not worth the problems. As normally GM dealers will give you the go around I know the game. Anyone have advice thank you!
Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Engine Oil 5W-30, AWD so it takes 6 quarts. Maybe the dip stick is messed up but I had to add little more than 6 quarts, maybe dipstick is false?

No codes, doesn’t skip a beat. Can only hear it obviously when u open the hood and take the cap off. Dealership always did her oil in past, never had to fight so hard to be able to loosen a drain plug out, in my life. Maybe just luck of the draw, also woman driven and just taken to dealership when oil life reset. Yes I do my vehicles every 3-5,000. Yet again this ain’t mine.

My 2018 2.0t is probably one of the most noisy engines (off idle), that I have ever owned. It seems to be just a noisy motor. It's always been noisy cold., but once warm, and idled down, i've left it running multiple times because I apparently didn't press the button hard enough, and didn't realize it was still running. Mine with 140000+ miles on it, is starting to make low noises that I haven't heard before, but there is no noise that I would associate with an issue. I am extremely pleased with the perforance of this engine. I hope you are just sensitive to the noise, but it is mechanical, and there is always the possibility that there is something wrong. I am familiar with piston slap on the 4.3 six cyinder, and I haven't heard anything like that.

Does the Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Engine Oil 5W-30 you're using have the dexos label on the front? It seems the ones labeled High Mileage are not dexos certified. Me, I would not run a non-dexos oil in mine because I don't need to lose an engine due to LSPI (low speed pre-ignition, not to be confused with regular detonation or knock).

Maybe post a video with audio. Cap closed, not off. Off isn't relevant since that's not how the engine runs. It uses variable oil pressure. I wouldn't worry about it with no oil loss or warning lights.
I’ll see if I can figure out how to post the video. Honestly, I think I am over thinking it. Almost like timing chain is smacking around. But With the cap on, it sounds completely fine. Cap off bunch of blow by also. not sure how normal that is. My knowledge you don’t want huge amounts of blow by. Im no professional mechanic tho so I could be all wrong!

Most 4 cylinder engines have a ton of air moving out with the oil cap off in my experience.
If your that worried about it do a compression test on the engine. Low compression is the source of excessive blow by via worn rings and cylinders.
