Just received a flyer in the mail today from O'Reilly Auto Parts. Thy have a buy one, get one free sale on Penzoil Platinum quarts. The add shows 10W-30 so I don't know if it includes other choices. Limit 6 free units. Sale ends July 26. They have other 2 for 1 specials too including Mother's Back to Black which I like.

Also there's a $15 O'Reilly gift card rebate when purchasing 5 quarts of Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Oil Filter.

Not a bad deal. If generally not impressed with O'Reilly's prices, Advance Auto Parts does better much of the time.
Of course, Wal-mart had good prices on most oils.

Even with a filter tossed in, the prices aren't much, if any, lower than Wally World.

Stock up when on sale. Just don't over do the hording.

So for the first time I went to O'Reilly to buy the oil and other 2 for 1 items. I wasn't impressed by the selection or the prices. A quart of Penzoil Platinum went for $8.49 each. They didn't sell the 5.1 Quart size so I couldn't compare pricing. At that price I lost interest and didn't buy anything.

I already have oil for my next oil change so it wasn't critical that I bought more now. I'll just wait for the next sale at Advance Auto like I usually do for oil purchases.

I checked Walmart a few weeks ago and it was just a little less than Advance with a coupon. I don't remember the Walmart price but if I didn't have the Advance coupon it would have been cheaper than Advance and worth the bother going there. The Walmart price was not a sale price.

Advance has 5 quarts of Peak full syn and a driveworks filter for $23.99. Never heard of this filter though. Even if you don't use the filter it's about $4.80 a quartI'm using Valvoline Dura Blend and it's marked Dexos 1 approved. I have some older bottles that don't say it but I doubt they changed the oil just for GM.

Personally, I would rather just buy the 5 quart jugs from WalMart for around $25 and not have to deal with deals like these unless they are TOO GOOD to pass up. This doesn't seem that great of a deal.

I get the 5 quarts of syn blrnd at Advance and the Pureone filter. The combo used to be $19.99 but now it is $22.99. Usually have Valvoline Durablend which ia a Dexos 1 oil. I bought 3 combo's when it was $19.99.

I just bought Pennzoil Platinum (Full Synthetic) 5Qt jug for $18.75 at Wal-Mart, but I'm guessing that price is going up as soon as the stupid "Dexos" label gets applied. Mobil 1's "Dexos" 5Qt jug runs $23, so Pennzoil will probably be priced just below that ... $21-$22 ?

I've never seen any decent pricing at O'Reilly's OR Advance OR AutoZone for motor oil, so I've never purchased a drop of oil at ANY of these places. I think Advance DOES have coupon offers from time to time which make them competetive with Wal-Mart, but why bother (unless you hate Wal-Mart, which would be understandable)...
