When you place an order into the system the first step it goes to is 1100 (Preliminary) That means the order has passed GM's edit tables and is a valid "Buildable" order. It also is when an order # is generated and assigned to it. This order # is the one that will follow it until it is built. It also is what is used to make sure you have things like price protection in the case of a price increase between the order time and invoice time. 1101 is essentially the same thing as 1100. The only difference is 1101 is more of an internal code for GM. They both still mean that it is a preliminary order still. When your order gets accepted by GM for production it will move to 2000. Here is the brief list of Status codes that are applicable to an order as far as the customer is concerned.:

Order status codes:
1100 = Preliminary Order (Order passed GM edit tables but dealers has not received allocation to place order)
2000 = Accepted By GM (Dealer used allocation to place order into production)
2500 = Preferenced (Order pulled to the production system)
3000 = Accepted By Production Control (Order input into the production system)
3100 = Sequenced (Order sequenced for Production)
3300 = Scheduled For Production (Order is scheduled into the plant build cycle)
3400 = Broadcast (Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together)
3800 = Produced (Order is built and VIN# shows in the Dealer Order system now)
4150 = Invoiced (Order is invoiced to the dealer)
4200 = Shipped (Vehicle is shipped to the dealer or point of delivery)
5000 = Delivered To Dealer
6000 = Delivered To Customer

There are other codes but they are almost exclusively used internally by GM and have no real effect on the status of the order as pertaining to the customer.

When you order your Terrain or any other GM vehicle you can call them and ask what the Status Event Code is, and they will give you one of the numbers above. This will help you figure out where your order is within the system.

Thank you for listing these codes. I remember way back in 2006 I followed similar, if not the same codes, when I ordered a 2007 Saturn SKY roadster. Does the dealership receive any paper(s) with this information that they could provide to the customer, or is it just listed on a computer/document/website for the dealership to see? It would be cool to get a copy, even if it's at the end when all the codes have been input, to have that shows the date for each code.

My Terrain is currently at 4800 - Bayed. Whatever that means.

It was supposed to be delivered (according to the invoice) on the 10th of November!!

Not impressed!

I believe they exist only in the dealers' computers, but it may be possible to get a printout at the end. I've never asked, so I cant be sure.
Your salesperson should be able to provide that to you. Mine did when I ordered my 2006 Corvette C6.

You can also ask your service tech/rep for your GM VIS sheet which gives you a lot of specifics about your vehicle like build date, actual weight, options, delivery date, etc.

I ordered a Terrain and my salesperson says that he has no code that my order is in the system with my name on it..Is there any way to track the progress of the build by using a Website?? When you say you can call them does that refer to the Dealer or GMC??? Thanks

Nitti,

My dealer was doing the same thing to me. I emailed my dealer asking him which code my car was in with examples proving to him I know what the codes ment. This got his ass into gear and the next day I got an order number with an actual status. It also helps to leave him in the dark on how you got the codes.

so my dealer told me when he ordered my car over two weeks ago that they had the allication points?
I have been stuck in status 1100 for about 1 and 1/2 weeks. Does this mean they are putting other orders infront of mine?
Usually GM will pull orders once a week. Give it a couple weeks and it should be up to around 2000. Also, keep in mind, that there might be other orders ahead of you at your dealership.

I ordered mine on Jan 25th. My dealer got allocation on Feb 25th. As of today ( March 6th ) I am in event code 3000 with TPW of April 5th, 2010. It looks like it will be a little more time that the dealer said at first. He said 8 wks, its going to be longer.

Thanks for the clarifaction Snowitch...

I was scared of that, My old car currently died and it's a puzzel to try to figure out how to get to work everyday 25 miles away. I may have to go buy another car. When I first ordered it over 1 and 1/2 month ago the dealer told me I would be getting the car the first week in april. My old car was currently running at the time but i knew the end was coming near. Now it looks like the car is getting built the 2nd week in april. I have planned different ways to work until the 2nd week in april. In case it took an extra week or few days etc.. Maybe my dealer can find something close to it on another lot. If not I guess I wont get a terrain after all :'(.

and from what I read earlier, once you have the VIN#, the dealer can put the deal together if there are any incentives you want to take advantage of.
That is true. However, there are really no incentives I have that will expire.

Wolfe, your Terrain should be here at the end of the month. You'll be surprised at how fast itll be shipped once its built. Ask your dealer if there is a way you can get an old demo to drive around until it arrives. You'd be surprised at what they do to retain a vehicle sale!

My TPW was Feb 22-24, and mine was just delivered yesterday. 2 and 1/2 weeks to get across Canada (Calgary). Based on your TPW 3/08, it would be fair to expect delivery March 25-30. Good luck!

Ordered 5-10-10
2000 - 5-18-10
3000 - 5-20-10

When I got my 3000 status code under "note" there was a date 6/28/10. That's all it says. Anyone know what that means? Is that the expected production date? delivery date?
