Got a cute message from my uncle (aka my salesman) today on my facebook.

congratulations cam on the birth of your baby gray terrain. a healthy 3800lbs and 185" long. delivery in 3 weeks.
Now im excited, till now it has just been a factory order that hasn't been built yet, now its actually on its way. :)

Still trying to sell my current ride though.
its a 2004 Monte Carlo Supercharged SS Dale Jr Edition with only 41,000KM on the odometer. Really don't want to sell it the closer i get to the deadline but it is time for a change in direction as far as vehicles go.

Uncle called me today and said the "interest commencement day" is on the 23rd. According to him the vehicle is usually in the dealers possession before that. Might be in the Terrain sooner than expected :)
Plus he finally told me that i wouldn't pay a cent more than what he would pay for it if he were buying one.

Never took advantage of GM family pricing how much of a discount is that? or is it random?

Do you mean GM employee discount which can be used by immediate family? I received $3900 off for employee family price. Price for family of GM employees is same at every dealership and is not random. It is in the computer. You can save further by ordering. You get another 1.5% off and no admin fees. If you are using your uncle he might not qualify as a GM employee...if he just works for the dealership. PS this is in Canada.

And now the real waiting begins. Got an email from my uncle today. he tells me the Terrain is in Edmonton at the train yard. Doesn't know how long now till it actually shows up on the hauler.
Its so close now i drive past the yard every day on my way to work but its gotta have a couple thousand vehicles in there.

Well im gonna have to wait till Tuesday afternoon, but my Terrain is here and i went and did up the paperwork tonight. Reason for the delay is they have 1 shop guy for PDI and treatments.

Fresh off the Hauler with 3km on the odometer.

We went to the dealership tonight and completed all the necessary paperwork. Only took a mere 4 hours ::) . Our salesperson thinks it will be here tomorrow, or Saturday at the latest.

those "chrome covers" are just the transport decals, i don't think theres chrome under there. but yeah if it was chrome it wouldnt stay, unless i tracked down a Chrome package grille.

*update* dealer jumped the gun on the financing... im wicked mad.

Still waiting or an explanation of exactly what/why they messed up. If it falls through they are now stuck with a 3km used Terrain that has never left their parking lot. I held off on the plate till i was told 2 times on Friday that i was approved with a cosigner. Once i was "approved" i called my insurance co got my pink card then went to the registry office across the street and registered the vehicle in my name as NEW with the NVIS form and everything and got a license plate. Now they told my Dad (cosigner) that he might have to sign first on the loan, which puts the terrain in his name and directly on his credit technically, thats not what i signed up for when i asked my dad to cosign if needed.

BUT if this all work out and turns to be a misunderstanding on my dads part I may have hit my head this afternoon and figured out a way to Get the Terrain and KEEP the Monte Carlo.
Its one of those "so crazy it might just work" kinda things.

Gotta see if i can redo the payment structure on the Monte with the bank to go bi weekly (every other friday). That was the payment should be around $200, the payment on the Terrain would be about $200-220 (bi weekly as well) and i know i can split my rent down to each payday ($250/payday)
Combined insurance would be maybe $140/month.

All in it still leaves me $350/cheque for odds and ends after i pay the remainder of my bills (Internet/cellphone etc..)

Only reason i was thinking about this was the financing on my Terrain with the trade in got all ****ed up for some reason. So i was thinking about options.
Given the fact that i really do not want to get rid of the Monte this seems to be a viable option for me.
Anytime you can pay for everything including 2 vehicles and still have $700 a month for the "oh craps" that a good thing for me haha.
And if nothing else it just gives me more time to sell the Monte should i still decide to.

Guess i have a really busy day tomorrow on the phone. :( as if working all day wont be enough haha.

Cameron, reading what you've written here I am kind of scratching my head. Doesn't seem like you should be buying the Terrain at all if you require your father to be put on the note. It's certainly not a burden I would personally put on my dad.

Is there such a thing as being 'car poor'? I know that I'd rather have $600 'excess' funds left at the end of the month than $250.

Alas, it's your money...

Following the same line of thought as Terrain, I don't want to be preachy but make sure you have money that you can tuck away and save at the end of each month as well. When working on my own yearly budget I always decide how much needs to be set aside each month for savings as my first 'expense.' I then know that the remaining figure is the actual money I have to work with.

Maybe I am just a bit jealous. I wasn't able to buy my first brand new car until I was 28. And that was only a few years ago.

I had to 'pay a lot of dues' to get where I am today and I guess, deep down, that I feel everyone should have to go through the same.

But I digress, this thread was about something else...
