Hi everyone!! I decided to start a new thread, as I have taken all your advice and "tried" to apply it, when I called. I have talked to a diffferent person every day. Not one of them wants to give me the $77 deal. I always felt that I was a good negotiator.......but I am not feeling that way today.

This morning I called the customer care number.....again!! The lady I spoke with was nice........but she had a very heavy accent. I must of asked her to repeat everything she said, at least 3 times!!!! I told her exactly what I wanted, and that this deal was given to people that I already know, recently. After 15 minutes with her she says, "but I can't give you the 3 month trial again, as you already had that!!!" I am like......nooooooooo, you aren't understanding what I am saying, and then I just said, "I gotta go!!!" I will have to call back later.

Do I need a lawyer to plead my case?? I am kidding........but barely!!! Is there another way to negotiate with xm. Someone thought that you could get it through Best Buy, or someplace else.

Still frustrated.......but happy to get advice.

No offense intended, but if you want XM that bad and it is such an inconvenience why don't you just pay the price they are offering? They don't owe you the $77 deal. That deal is supposed to be a last ditch effort to retain a customer that people have taken advantage of when offered. Don't get me wrong. I'd accept the offer too, but complaining that it is too difficult to get a price that isn't meant for everyone takes some chutzpah.

You are right. I am sorry. I will not complain anymore. Money is an issue for me. I struggle some months, with bills, etc.

I don't mean to "whine" so I will stop now.

I haven't tried it with XM because they gave me the 5 month/$25.00 deal when my three month trial ran out, but when I have had a problem understanding any company rep I just tell them I want to speak to a supervisor and that usually gets me a rep in the states. A friend told me that if you ask for tier two support it will give you the same results. After my three month trial I received a letter from them wanting $12.95 a month. I just called in and told the rep I hadn't made up my mind yet if I wanted to keep it or not, but if they wanted to keep me as a customer they would give me the same 5 month deal that they had given to other people so I could have more time to make up my mind. He agreed to that without any hesitation.

In many cases I would agree with you, but XM is an overpriced service and IMO everyone should negotiate a better price on it or pass. It's not even the commercial free service they claim it to be anymore.

Sue, I don't know your current status with XM, but if you still have it the best advice I can give is let it expire and the deal to come to you shortly there after. They will call you.

In my case, I did not receive a bunch of emails, or phone calls. I went on vacation.......and while I was gone, I received ONE email, asking me to subscribe, at a higher price. When I returned from my vacation, my xm had expired, and I was not getting it anymore.

And I do feel that I am entitled to get what others here have gotten. I just haven't been able to talk to someone at xm who agrees with me.

Thanks for listening.

Agreed.
We received both a snail mail letter and an email offering the $77 deal...
one of which was received just prior to expiration, one just after.

We did not "re-up" but the "deal" was their offer...on or about May 18, 2011

It doesn't take chutzpah to expect consistent customer service...and equal treatment for all.
Not so sure you are correct about the "last ditch effort" retention thingy.

Calling them repeatedly is probably the worst way to "negotiate" that I've ever heard. You've got to take the stance that you can live without it and force them come to you with any offers..

I don't know why your having such a hard time getting the deal, all I did was call them and ask for it and they gave it to me. Just say you got a letter in the mail offering the discounted rate and if they ask for a promo code (not sure if it even is required) say you can't find the letter.

I am just shocked because they ALWAYS offer this to me and everyone else I know who has XM.

Good Luck!

I agree that XM is over priced. What is even funnier is that had they not raised their prices from $10 a month, plus $7 for 2nd radio, I would have continued paying $204 a year or $17 monthly without complaining for my 2 radios like I had been for first 2 years. But because they tried to jack me to around $300 a year, I started calling and getting crazy offers for $77 a year or $24 for 5 months. Since they raised the prices I've only paid about $250 for 2 years, where as had they kept their original price, I would have paid over $400 for the same duration of service.

Their loss.

When I called, I just told them that I received a letter in the mail that said I could get XM for 5 months for only $20( I didn't really have such a letter but heard about the offer on this site). The operator asked if I could give here some of the info from the letter that I received and I just told her that I didn't have it handy as I was currently driving down the road at the moment. She said "No problem" and that she was able to sign me up anyway and that I would be $27 with all the fees and crap for 5 months of service. She then reminded me (about 5 times) that I would need to call and cancel after the 5 months or it would start automatically being billed at the standard rate. I just used a card that has since expired so they can't keep charging the card after the 5 months are up.

Not sure why you are having an issue, it was extremely easy for me.

It's strange the different experiences people have in renewing. I never received one letter offering any discount nor any emails. My boss called them and go the $77 deal a year and they offered it to him for three years. I called one 800 number and the guy would not negotiate at all, it was $154 a year take it or leave it. I called about 3 days after mine expired and called a different number. The lady offered me the $77 as soon as I ask for it, but she would not offer it to me for more then one year. I ask for an invoice and she said she would send it for $2 more as I knew if they had my CC they would bill me the full price for the renewal a year from now. My radio was turned back on at the time I ask her to do it.

Would you mind sharing the number that you called? The people that I have talked to would not budge, on the price either. I have taken some advice here, and have not called for a number of days. I am aware that each time you call, you will talk to a different person.

FYI, I had about 2 weeks before my XM sub expired and it would have expired 1/2 way through our vacation road trip. This thread reminded me to renew my sub today. I called the 800 listed here and on my renew letter. Asked about the 5 month $20 whatever deal. First she said I'd likely have to be transferred to the promo team?? Then she mentioned the 5/$25 deal was available. With tax and fees, was about $29.xx. Took about 10 minutes total including the up sell speech. CSR also mentioned, I can call back in 5 months to see if any other promotions I can take advantage of when my sub is about to expire.

Not sure what time of day you're calling, but I got a U.S. based CSR and didn't have to try too hard to get this deal. I called around noon.

Good luck...

FYI to any interested XM subscribers; rec'vd the 12 month for $77 deal in today's mail plus XM will waive $15 reactivation fee. There is no offer code on the mailer; simply my radio ID and account number. So the offer should work for anyone and everyone seeking reactivation/renewal.

A web address was provided www.xmradio.com/backtoxm which I browsed (I'm not renewing, was killing time) and more deals were offered there: $29.94 for 6-months or $101.94 for 12-months of XM Premier (Howard, the works).

As there is no offer code, thought I'd post up. Only restriction noted: Offer Expires July 8, 2011. Uh-huh. ;)
