I send my GMC Terrain last month 12/10/10 for oil change at Conrad’s but yesterday afternoon I have seen an oil leak where my GMC was park inside my garage…so I spray it with water to removed the oil leak on the flooring & observe if it is still have an oil leak coming for the vehicle but before that I call GMC & ask them if I’m going to send my GMC Terrain to dealer if it is still covered by the warranty? They say yes. So I set an appointment to one of GMC dealer closer to our place. They found out that the Conrad’s put smaller OEM oil filter than the original one. After they change it...the GMC dealer gave me the old filter that Conrad’s installed so that I can show it to Conrad’s & refund the amount that I pay it in GMC dealer for an oil change & replacing the new filter again that match the size because it is not included in the warranty.

Here’s the photo image of the oil filter from Conrad’s & the second round of an oil leak image.

Here's the Oil Filter image...

and here's the second round oil leak...

Lucky me because I've notice that earlier! otherwise it will give me a big headache!

the wrong size filter wouldnt cause an oil leak unless its a junk filter, with a bad o ring......ive run different filter on 2 different cars and so long as the thread and OD is the same, you shouldnt have an issue....

i assume conrads is a quick lube place?!!?!?

As you have seen in the picture, the filter has an oil leak so I’m not sure if it is coming from the filter or not but the GMC dealer says that in 3 days if that will happen again then there’s something wrong in my GMC. The filter is a brand new but still I’m not sure about that if it is new or not because I’m only waiting in their waiting area to finish the job.

Conrad’s is a Tire Express & Total Car Care approve by AAA & it’s my favorite car shop to take care my vehicle but since that this happen to me I’m not sure if I’m going back again to their shop.
Right now the GMC dealer install the filter color is Blue. I hope this will fix the problem.

I’m just wondering why after a month of having change oil to Conrad’s this problem occur? Maybe it because of the bad O ring or maybe they didn’t place it properly? But imagine it’s been a month before the leak to come out.

Happened to a friend once, we saw his oil level sensor giving indications. We had to settle for an OEM Oil filter alternative. We did not know that the valve on the oil pump had a leak and was loosing pumping pressure So we purchased an OEM Oil Level Sensor. What a waste of money! What we got on this is we were wiser now.

On the matter, I hope you resolve it quickly.

I think the oil leak has been solved. I haven’t seen any leak in my garage coming from the vehicle this morning.
