I have a 2018 GMC terrain. I don't drive it very often only about 2500 miles a year. How often should I change the oil? I have been doing it every six months but am beginning to think maybe I should just do it once a year or every 3000 miles which ever comes first. Any thought from anyone?

I do mine every 6 months & normally hit the 7500mi interval in-between. You're nowhere close.

So yes, a general rule of thumb is annual oil changes regardless of miles. A little over at 3000 shouldn't be much of an issue if you're using full synthetic. That said idk your driving style...

Fuel dilution & short trips are your enemy.

Warranty requirement states once yearly or as the oil life monitor suggests. I service the vehicles I drive regularly at 5000 miles; the ones seldom driven, once a year.

I would go at least once a year minimum change frequency. This is what I do with my Mustang which only sees 2000-3000 kms a year. I typically change mine out when the OLM reaches 25%. This happens anywhere from 9500-10500 kms, (approx 5 months) with my typical driving.

Check out that annual protection oil from Mobil 1 claims u only have to change once a year. Use a quality filter like acdelco u shouldn't have any problems going the whole year maybe a little longer. Keep it full ect.
