I have a 2018 GMC terrain. I don't drive it very often only about 2500 miles a year. How often should I change the oil? I have been doing it every six months but am beginning to think maybe I should just do it once a year or every 3000 miles which ever comes first. Any thought from anyone?

I would change oil and filter at least once a year as your owners manual tells you if you drive very low miles
Don't go over 3,000 miles.

Keep in mind the weather where you live.
Very cold, humid and rainy conditions may require more.
Always use a Dexos approved full synthetic and you will be fine.

My personal maintenance schedule for my four Chevy vehicles is this:
Mobil1, Extended Performance, 5W-30, Dexos1, Gen2
Original Equip AC/Delco Filters
Changed at 5,000 miles; ignoring the oil life monitor ( which usually is at 40 - 50%)
Changed annually if less than 5,000 miles/year.

I also agree with rednox301 about being mindful of climate conditions and frequency of operation; maybe adjusting the maintenance schedule accordingly.

I’m only putting on 2,600 miles per year, and limit my oil change interval to a maximum of six months, which equates to something between 50 - 55% on the OLM.
