Sorry about your problem, but IMO the dealer doesn't owe you anything other than fixing the problem under warranty. Remember, the dealer didn't make your car, they just sold it to you.
I'm sorry to hear about the problem as well...but have to completely agree with SS#1531
Heck I'll even step out a little further and say GM doesn't owe anything but the fix as well.
Now that notwithstanding...and having been a New Car Dealer Service Rep for 25 years
Customer Satisfaction (aka J.D. Powers etc) ratings are very important to ALL Manufacturers and Dealers...especially the selling Dealer...and if my Dealership sold you your car...I as a Service Rep would bend over backwards to try and make you happy with the Service Experience of having your car fixed. And that would include giving you a "loaner" car if necessary (even if you didn't buy the extended warranty under which the "loaner" would be covered. "Loaner" cars are NOT covered under the Basic Warranty. You are entitled to a "loaner" car under Basic Warranty ONLY if you bought the extended warranty).
But it's uncalled for to expect a Dealer/Manufacturer to "buy your satisfaction" with some sort of precedent setting "gift" for your troubles.
Sure I want you to get a Survey from Chevy after your Repair Visit and I want you to fill it out as COMPLETELY SATISFIED in ALL categories...but I want you to base the response on legitimate expectations.
I welcomed you sincerely
I listened to you sincerely
I took the nature of your concerns sincerely
I did everything under my control to expedite your "Brand New Car Repair"
I did everything under my control to get it fixed correctly the first time
I was understanding of your frustration
I provided you with Transportation whether or not you were technically entitled to it.
I followed up after the repair by calling you to be sure things were ok
I asked you to let me know if anything else came up that required repairs or to answer any product questions that might arise.
But worrying about a lemon with what is so far a single issue is silly
And expecting to "get something" for your inconvenience is a small part of what's wrong with this country today.
You bought a car...or a toaster...or a TV...and the Manufacturer gave it a Warranty...and we all know some Warranties are better than others...and some things don't even have a Warranty.
Your entitlement..............is to have it fixed
