When the truck is idling (V6) there is a noticable ticking, I am pretty sure it is coming from the valves but I have not looked into it. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this? Is it normal for this engine?

Going in for service next week anyways so I will have it looked at then to be certian.

I believe the noise is a result of the direct injection. Mine is that way too.

All G.M direct injection engines have a ticking sound at idle. You will notice how the hoods are sealed with rubber like a door seal. This is to keep the noise down as much as possible. The 3.6 direct injection in the Cadillac CTS is most noticeable especially when the hood is open. Almost more clatter than a Jetta diesel.
