Are you talking about this one...which has been out for about 6 months now?

Ok the problem i had was that the clock was always a different time when i started the car. I would set it to the right time when i started the car and as soon as i shut the car off it would reset to a random time. The gps would never let me erase the old gps spots i went to. I would erase the old gps spots and as soon as I started the car up they would be back in place. I had that update put in 2 weeks ago that your talking about in above post but with no help. As soon as i got home from dealer the same problem started again. I just picked up the terrain from dealer about a hour ago and it looks like they fixed the problem with this new software update. Hope this helps. Thanks Mark
Cool...does your invoice have a "PI" number?
is this a free update? or do i need to have one of the problems listed?

This appears to be a service bulletin. This is something for the service technicians at the dealership. It does not mean that this is covered. It also is not necessary to have this done if you are not experiencing these concerns. If you are experiencing a concern, I would recommend contacting your local dealership for more assistance. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Why "FIX" something that isn't broke???
i am having some of thise issues on my Terrain, so I assume it would be covered under the warrenty
After a year of working properly, my 2010 Equinox with GPS stopped recognizing my Bluetooth and would not pair with any phone. The pairing routine would abort as soon as it said to search on the phone for a new Bluetooth device. I had dealer upgrade the radio per PI0285. That fixed the Bluetooth problem, but now I have new problems. My GPS resets to Washington DC each time I turn off the ignition, exit the car and reenter the car again. This was a problem PI0285 was supposed to fix, and occurred intermittently before the upgrade. Now it happens every time. In addition, now when turning off the ignition temporarily, as when stopping for gas, upon restarting the car the GPS remembers that it had a route planned, but the route is lost. No routing instructions are given and the driver's information panel says No Route Planned. If the route is re-planned, the GPS asks if I want to add the new way-point. The lost route has to be cancelled and then re-planned. Could it be that the dealer installed an old version of the PI0285 software or could it be that there are new problems that have not been resolved yet? How can I find out if I have an old version of the upgrade? If there is no newer version, how do I notify GM of the problem so they can work on a fix? Are other fixes available?

Thanks in advance.
David

David,

I would recommend contacting your dealer and explaining that you are still having concerns. They should have a plan for addressing the issue. Please feel free to keep me posted. Thank you in advance.

PI0285 Had this updates in my 2010 Equinox 3 times now. It works for 6 months then goes back to the previous problems with the navigation system, even having the entire nav head unit replaced.

I just bought a 2010 Terrain SLT-2 with nav and had the same problems as listed in the TSB. I took it in to a GM dealer and had them flash the system. Made everything worse. Took it in again yesterday, and they are replacing the entire system. Hopefully this isn't just a band-aid... My truck is out of warranty and the dealer is being kind enough to do all of this free since the original owner didn't take care of the problem.
I've taken my 2010 Terrain in over the course of 2 years 4 or 5 times with the same complaints as others have posted. Each time they reprogram. The most recent visit (yesterday) they were "Gracious" enough to do the reprogramming for free as I'm 1400 miles out of the factory warranty. Even after the Service Manager handling the case because of the number of repeat visits for the same issue promised to resolve things, I get home and still have the same issues. :angryfire:

- I can change the clock hours/minutes but after 10 minutes of the key being removed from the ignition it reverts ... very annoying my cell phone & dash time are off by 3 minutes :help:

- Nav > Address Entry - I have to agree to the safety/GM C.Y.A. note EVERYTIME I enter GPS. Also, I have to clear Washington D.C. out of the state field EVERYTIME. :help:

I think its time to switch to a Ford!

I'm having the same exact issue with my 2010 GMC terrain SLT1. The radio will not hold the correct time / you always have to press ok on the nav menu / etc. Its VERY ANNOYING. I've taken mine to the dealer on two different occasions when it WAS under warranty and all they did was reprogram and it goes right back to the same issue. :( NOT GOOD.
I took my 2010 SLT2 Terrain in for an Oil change last week and while I was there I told them about the issues I was having with my Nav Unit. (ALWAYS defaults back to the XM preview chanel after the car has been off for a few mins. + the clock is always wrong during daylight savngs time).
They told me there was an update to correct this and that they applied it.

So I get home and the next morning I start the car and the XM preview channel is back to its default.

I took it to a different dealership today (as my main one is 30 min away) and they said they tried to apply the update that fixes this but it failed (and failed 4 - 5 times). They want to replace the Nav head unit becuase they cant get it to update.

Does this sound right? Or were they just not able to perform the update correctly?

As with any computer it could've become corrupted and that is what's preventing it from accepting the update. Sounds like you've found a competent dealer if they've already decided to put a new Nav unit in.
bocks,
Keep me posted on your progress. Feel free to contact me if you need anything in the meantime.
