Might actually be doable, I'll have to take a look at the BCM. As far as how to do it, more than likely if this was something you'd want you'd have to send me your cluster to program.

very cool, thanks for sharing GTP!

another question that's been floating around for those of us who have installed HIDs in the low beam - is it possible to "reprogram" the DRLs so that they are either off permanently (so you would have to turn the headlights on manually when needed) or have it default in the OFF position rather than ON (so you could still turn the knob down and have the Auto feature turn on)? the DRLs don't play nice with the HIDs so we've been trying to figure out how to make it work better than either covering the light sensor so they are always ON full power or turning them off every time you get in the car. and a wiring harness didn't seem to correct the flickering associated with the lower power of the DRLs. any thoughts you may have would be appreciated!

I may start working on the BCM hack for that soon as I did with the G8. Probably in a month or so as I want HID's as well :) As far as how to get this I may start offering the service once I get all my other vehicle line programs finished this isnt anything you can do at a dealer unfortunately. Glad you guys like it though!

GTPprix,

Can you post instructions on how to get IFE, and Avg together on the same screen?

Thanks,

rogelioii
I'm pretty sure that this is a "dealer installed option" - i.e. you would have to mail your BCM to him, and he would have to re-program it. Not a "user installed option".

Just something to think about when disabling your DRLs. If you happen to get into an accident and the police or insurance company find out that you have disabled them or have modified the way that they work it might not be good for you. When I worked at the dealer the police wanted us to disable them on some of their patrol cars for survalience work, we actually had to get special letters from the motor vehicle division of Gov for us to do it legally. If you do ramove it from a car and that car is in an accident where there is loss of life you could be ruined for the rest of yours with law suits. The cop that was there waiting for his car told me that lots of companies will look for any excuse to get out of paying a claim and that is one that they will definately use, " well I didn't see the car approaching me". I was thinking about disabling mine at one time but when I heard that info it changed my mind.!!! Just something to think about!!

That is a good point but for some reason I thought that on the Terrain the DRL doesn't stay on all the time anyway, i.e. when it's bright outside they don't come on. I don't have the manual here to verify but I've had that in my head since the beginning. However it seems that since DRLs aren't required by law in the US that would be a harder point to make though I agree that they would try anything when it comes to claims.

But you can turn them off with a quick turn of the light switch towards you. I almost always turn mine off. You need to do this everytime you start the Terrain. (This is for the US model)
