HELLO ALL EQUINOX OWNERS!

Consider this an invite for all Equinox owners. GM Cami Assembly is having a Public Open House on August 24 2011 from 12 pm to 7 pm. It would be nice to have you Equinox owners come down and see where your Equinox was built. It is, unfortunately, a Wednesday. The tour is self guided with the staff showing you the route you will take. The plant will be operating so you can see first hand the various process's involved. Two things to remember...no open toe shoes or sandals are permitted in the plant EVER...even during the tour. Second, NO CAMERAS are allowed! If you bring a camera you will leave it in your vehicle where pictures can be taken outside of the plant. You may want to take pictures of other Equinox owners with their Equinox or people from this forum. For those wanting to come, the plant is located in Ingersoll Ontario.. their address is 300-a Ingersoll St., Ingersoll, ON, N5C 4A6 ...Google that address for directions.

I am a worker in the plant, worked there for 20.5 years...I work in the Body Shop.

The other thing that I'm requesting would be if you cannot attend this event would you be kind enough to send me your comments on your Equinox. Tell me your thoughts about it...why you chose it over other similar brand from other manufacturers etc... The reason for this is GM Cami will be creating a Pride Wall leading to the tour with your comments and pictures. Thankyou everyone!

Sounds interesting, I've always wanted to visit an assembly plant. 8) Unfortunately, I live in Texas and the summer vacation budget doesn't include driving across the country into Canada....but I hope others here that are closer attend and give their thoughts.

@ Grunt

with your 20+ years experience with building GM's. Can you give me a definitive answer/fix to the 1st gen water leak issue where the wheel well fills up with water? I've searched everywhere as to an answer and have come up empty handed. If the tour wasn't on a Wednesday I'd gladly be there. 1. to check out the plant, I just think those things are cool....and 2. to ask those who made my vehicle directly how to fix it.... I apologize for the hint of frustration in my post....it's just a little annoying. I'm glad that I found a working forum for nox's.....Thank you in advance for any help you or anyone else could offer me.

-cheers!

I have been on factory tours, and you usually do not get the opportunity to ask those type of questions. Certainly they don't want others on the tour to realize that "their" cars may possibly have a defect ! Only other manufacturers build cars with defects. :drunk:

I thought this was an invite for all of the Nox owners with the noisy startup issue to all get together and simultaneously do a start up!
Imagine all the racket they would make!!"Loud and Proud" Sorry for being a smarta$$... I just had to do it!

This sounds like a great visit. Wish I could make it. Back in 2007 went to Lansing MI to the plant that built the Saturn Outlook, GMC Arcadia and the Buick Enclave -- all built on the same line. It had been a couple a decades since I was at an Assembly plant -- found it fascinating!! Would love to visit Cami...

You are so wrong...when CAMI had their first exclusive plant tour for Equinox owners back in 2005 there were tents set up for the owners to meet the Quality Assurance people and express their concerns. People from Engineering, Paint, Assembly and Welding were there to fix anything that could be fixed right away. If not they advised you to go to your dealer and give them the advice they were just given. They filled out surveys. There was a free continental breakfast and lunch provided then a Question and Answer session by the Plant President/Manager and the Union Chairperson. We had a small crowd that came from Virginia, Georgia, Ohio northern Ontario as well as local cities. That tour was held on a Saturday. Those that came up from the USA stayed at the hotel across from the plant for the weekend (their expense) and I provided supper at my expense. CAMI was so concerned and proud of building the Equinox they really wanted to satisfy the customers...this forum and other forums provided VALUABLE information regarding defects that they could be investigated and resolved ASAP. I will pass along the comments from this forum and the Terrain forum to the "higher ups". But please, good or bad, send your comments to me at the email address I provided. I promise to forward them to the appropriate people here at the plant.

Thank you very very much.
