I apologize in advance for another PDIM question, but I've seen so many threads online with different PDIM models and vehicles they were being installed in, I figured no harm done starting one more topic. Anyways,...

I own a 2011 Chevy Equinox LS. I just ordered the ACDelco 20985421 from Amazon here: http://amzn.com/B004SIZJE2 (only because the 22797218 model is out of stock)

My question is this, my vehicle does NOT have a USB port. I see people on these and other forums talking about radio firmware with DB, DC, DD, etc that have a USB port, and that's where I get confused. When this item arrives, will it be as easy as swapping out the PDIM modules and selecting AUX and holding the 'Menu' button to pair it to my phone for bluetooth audio? I do not plan on installing the USB, I'm going to be keep my existing AUX jack and hope to start streaming bluetooth audio.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice, as I've already learned so much from everyone on these forums today!!

I just got the PDIM in the mail yesterday. So I went to install it and took off the floor panels as I have read in various forums. I figured it would be in plain sight according to install manual from this topic http://www.equinoxforum.net/index.php?topic=3769.0

This is what it looks like with the drivers side floor panel removed http://i.imgur.com/PsUr5z5.jpg

From what I gathered, it should be in through the center hole where the 4 clips are.

The PDIM i ordered did not come with any extra cables. I figured I could just swap them out, but I cant even find the PDIM module. Anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance!

Yup. . looks like there are not even any cables to connect the PDIM.

Maybe should have looked at this first? Adding modules is not always the answer to an upgrade for modern day vehicle electronics. It isn't like in Star Trek, unfortunately, where someone just fiddles with a "Phaser" to make it work as something else.

When an electronics or electrical option is absent on a trim level, often times there is more into it than it initially appears. Somethings, like foot well lights, might be added fairly easily. Things like Bluetooth and USB capability. . . not so much. This is why options are often more costly than it may appear. . . until you want to add one and find out wiring harnesses and other expensive bits are needed.

Thank you Jaytee for the fast response. Just reading the other forums, it seemed as most GMC Terrain's had them in the location I stated along with some Equinox's, as they were then later removed in 2012+ models. I see the gentleman in the other topic installed his fine, but his included a wiring harness. I've searched for them and have had no luck yet. Do you think there may be a PDIM hidden elsewhere? Or is a wire harness needed to do this properly? Thanks again!

Update: I called my local Chevy dealer and they swore up and down they this module will not work, I would need an entirely new radio, and that there is about 10 different wiring harness's that can be used. Amazon lists it as compatible with my vehicle along with other people on this and other forums that have it installed and working fine. So again, would anyone think that just the wiring harness is the only missing thing to get this working?

Well, it does depend on the trim level as built. Perhaps list more info:
Year: 2011
Make:
Trim Level: SLT, LS, LT, SLE, etc
Radio Option Code: This can be found on the option code list somewhere in the glove box area usually.
Also, if it was a fleet sold vehicle often those are stripped down to levels even lower than other consumer purchased vehicle are.

There may be another PDIM location. you could try removing the other kick panels on both sides of the interior foot wells and see if anything looks possible?

If you list the other vehicle info, perhaps others can chime in that may have a similar model.

As stated above, I own a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox LS. I removed the other floor panel yesterday but still nothing. Here is a pic with the passenger floor panel removed http://i.imgur.com/QRm73A3.jpg
And as for the radio option code, in the glove box, I found a sticker that said "Service Parts Identification" Its a bunch of letters and numbers mixed. Would any of that state radio info? I remember reading in some forums about DB, DC, DD firmware etc.

So, if yours came without the USB port, did you buy it used from a fleet purchaser (e.g. was it a rental or corporate fleet vehicle)? If so, then any information you find on here may not be applicable to you.

You will notice in the 2011 manual:

1-19: "This vehicle has a 3.5 mm (1/8 in) auxiliary input and a USB port located in the center console."

https://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/Chevrolet/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Ownership/Manuals_and_Videos/02_pdf/2011_chevrolet_equinox_owners.pdf

If they deleted the USB port, who knows what other electronics they deleted?

It was not a fleet. They person who owned it before me purchased it from the same dealer I did. I did read that USB was an option to have installed for a hefty price when the vehicle was released.

Curious that the 2011 manual would definitively state that all models have USB and aux. Yours does have bluetooth calling for your phone, right?

Update: I found this spec sheet that ID's the USB port as well as bluetooth calling to be optional. I think you can only do the PDIM swap to get bluetooth music if an existing module is installed that supports bluetooth calling, yours has this but not the USB port?

Thanks Ralph, and correct, there is no USB port (just aux) but my car does support bluetooth calling. So because my car does have bluetooth calling, that means there may be a PDIM module hidden somewhere?

From the picture that was posted, it appears to be looking at the right side of the console.
Trying looking at the left side. There should be several modules or slots for modules. It
might be the second module/slot.

Hey ILike, I have a picture of the left (drivers side) floor panel pulled back on Reply #1. Is that what you mean? Or were you referring back further where the center console opens to hold stuff, like where the aux input is?

The radio info will be listed on the RPO codes list on the Decal.

The ones that start with U have to do with the Radio/Bluetooth info etc.

Post the codes starting with U-- and some one on here may tell you which radio model you have.

example-- a 2012 from a member on here has

UEU FORWARD COLLISION ALERT AND LANE DEPARTURE WARNING
UEW COLOR TOUCH NAVIGATION RADIO W/ 7" SCREEN, CD/MP3 PLAYER, AUX INPUT AND USB PORT
UFL LANE DEPARTURE WARNING

Sorry, its UW6, not UWS. And with the bluetooth phone calling, would that mean that there is in fact a PDIM module hidden somewhere?
