nox-rocks,

Have you brought this to the attention of your local dealership? Did they take a look at it? I can look into this for you as well. In order to do so, I will need the VIN for the vehicle. Thank you in advance.

The dealer documented my concern and sent me on my way. We also discussed me buying major guard extended warranty since I'm only averaging 1000 miles a month meaning my factory warranty is really only going to last me for 50,000 miles in 5 years..

I didn't really get much info at all. I felt he was going to say whatever he thought I wanted to hear but actually say nothing at all. He looked up complaints on the cars and talked about the fuel pump and A/C noises. He said my complaints to the salesman had been forwarded to him but he had not seen the movie I made with the noise and I didn't get the impression he was going to look at it either. I told him it sounded like a diesel with no oil and he said he could have his mechanics look at it but admitted that unless he heard something he could not do anything about it and wondered how long he would have to have it before hearing something. He said I could leave it but he didn't sound like that was going to do any good. He also said a lot of these I4 engines make that noise after sitting several days and since I had 5 year/100,000 mile warranty I should not worry about it. I told him since I only average 1000 miles per month I would only be covered for about 50,000 miles in 5 years which gave me no confidence. He documented the noise but my thoughts are that everytime it does this I'm getting wear to parts and even if it does last to 50,000 miles there will probably be significant wear to things. He said he would suggest buying Majorguard which would extend the warranty time past 5 years but, I think Chevy should extend it due to noises already being heard. He also told me to stay away from forums as they will just make people panic and he also said Tricia is not from Chevrolet customer service but isd instead from a marketing firm which will always refer you to a dealer and really give no assistance. All in all it was a pretty discouraging conversation and I accomplished nothing.

I am lucky if I put 7- 8000 a year on my car. This guy has to be kidding "stay away from forums"...you can bet if I continue to have this problem I will be screaming from mountain tops and not just on forums. These dealers know the deal and are schooled on how to handle complaints such as these.I think for us the best outcome would be if it is infact the fuel pump and not an oil issue.I think you have to insist somebody watches the video you made and then let them tell you they hear nothing or "it's normal"...If it was "NORMAL" why does it not do it all of the time?It seems to me that yours is doing it on a more regular basis than mine, maybe you do need to leave it for them to see it for themselves...last time mine did it was 5-13-11 6Pm after the car had not been used all day.You may have a stance on "them" extending your warranty(or other avenues) (just do not hold your breath)if THEY actually hear the noise and continue to scratch their heads. With out a doubt this is very frustrating to the owner of a brand new vehicle and unexcusable.I will be searching any forums I can now to relate my problem and hopefully you do the same.I will keep you updated on anything I find out...Please do the same.

I like it here and am not going anywhere. I have lots of spare time and if I have a problem I will research to find out what I can find out about it. I had heard before that reading forums was not something Manf's wanted people to do as too many problems were discovered to be more frequent than we were supposed to know about. We have been told forever that our problems have never been heard about or complained about before when it was actually covered by a TSB. I have had to print and show dealers TSB's before because they were advised to not volunteer info on defects and to actually act like they didn't even know it exists. Information is power and that's why we are not supposed to read forums as we are not allowed to have power. My opinion is, with the powertrain warranty at 5 year/100,000 miles, the average driver is really getting a 50,000 mile warranty when he thinks he is getting 100,000 miles. I commute 32 miles a day and am driving less than 800 miles a month.
I guess what really bothers me the most about this is that I mailed the salesman a link to the youtube video Saturday morning and I was told that Monday he would get the info to the head man in the shop. When I had not heard anything Monday afternoon and called the salesman he said he had sent the info to the shop man. I asked if I could bring it to them after work and did so 5 hours later. When I asked him if he had even listened to the video to hear the noise, he said he didn't have time and had not yet seen it. It was 5pm, shop was closing, and in 10 hours he didn't have 9 seconds to check out the video.

morning all, I have a 4cyl. Terrian, with about 5,000 miles. I've had it 5Months. The noise I have under the hood sounds like quick tapp tapp tapp's.
At first I would hear it when I started eng. or turned of eng. Now it's a consistant tapping. Dealer said it was injector noise. And normal.
Question was, why did it take months to start making noise, and now it is all the time. From the inside of my car, sounds like I have a diesel. 2nd time in now, today they are putting a new fuel pump in it. Hmmm, my noise
is up front at the engine. Fuel pump is in the back in the gas tank I said. His response, well there's a bulletin for noise, so we're going to
see if that will help. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I think there may be a High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) located within the engine compartment with the Direct Injection engines.

It may take 9 seconds to actually listen to the video, but it may take some time to locate a computer, sign on, find out the passwords, and then there is distractions of checking out some porn sites, and then finally getting to the 9 second video. Whoops, just "kidding". We always feel that our problems are top priority - to us anyways - and they are low priority to others !

So...Tricia...

I can understand the concern, but I can assure you that I am a legitimate member of the GM Social Media team. I am a Customer Service agent. Christina is a coworker who used to be assigned this forum until I took over for her. As a member of this team, are not able to provide technical assistance. Rather we are able to help in terms of customer assistance. This would include interacting with the customer in hopes that we can reach some kind of resolution together. We are able to get them in touch with Customer Assistance as well as work with the dealerships in regards to issue. We are also able to look into information by VIN such as recalls, warranty, and build specifications. I am also able to look up bulletin information, while we are limited to what we can provide to the customer in regards to bulletins, I can share that information with the dealership to help get an issue resolved. In some cases, we are able to get in touch with our technical contacts for more assistance, but this is on a more case by case basis with things such as locating a part on the vehicle. As we are not mechanics ourselves, we try to avoid telling someone how to fix their vehicle. I am here to help and am not sure why the dealership would not recognize that. If any of you have any further concerns, please feel free to contact me.
