i've been a fan of the terrain for quite a while... really love the combination of utility/looks/fuel economy (even if it's not as advertised, seems to be better than other crossover suvs)
and now that i'll be moving to a location that justifies having awd, will be ready to pull the trigger...
question: i've heard that the center console will be updated for 2012... do you guys think it's worth it to wait for the updated model??

thanks...

Another member asked the same question. It depends on needs and wants. If you need it immediately, then get it, but if you only want it now, but can wait, then you are probably better off waiting. Only you can awswer that question. It also depends on how long you plan to keep it. If you buy now, then you are getting a car that had already depreciated over 1/2 model year. Personally, I would wait, but I don't have a car that is on its last legs, and will probably fail within the next few months - I hope !

Unless you get a great deal on a 2011 to compensate for the depreciation, I would would wait for the 2012. My dealer said 2012s would be orderable in May-June.

Depending on the trim level you are considering, the '12 Terrain will have optional blind spot awareness, collision avoidance, (third one escapes me) and an updated headunit with touchscreen. Might be worth the wait if any of that appeals to you...

Great info, thanks!
Funny, the sales manager of my dealer told me last week there would be virtually no difference between the 2011 and 2012s. This is the same dealer that I posted regarding deceptive advertising.

The new center unit with touch screen will be for the model with nav. The non-nav version will look almost the same as current model... so if you are not planing the ~3000$ NAV option, they will be very similar...

i'm fairly certain i want a i4 slt2 with nav...
i know terrain prices are hard to haggle, but i'll be buying through usaa, so i think that's about as good of a no hassle deal as one can get...
guess i'll wait just a tad bit longer... although the 2013 mid cycle changes might do a number on the resale value of first gen terrains... grr

With that thinking, you will NEVER buy a new car. At some point, you have to pull the trigger, and live with the decision. There is "always" something "better" just around the corner.

yeah, that might be a good idea seeing how i went through like 12 cars in 15 years of driving already... i've also said that i wouldn't want to purchase during the first production year, yet my daily driver is a 08 isf...
back in the days when information on updates are kept at factory until release, there is much less 'anticipation'
but then again, if the new spy photos show an ugly design, who knows... at this point i'm just waiting for that new infotainment system that is a sure plus over the existing system...
