Hey Guys, hope all is well!

I bought an IPAD over the weekend and I was wondering how I might be able to hook it up to my Terrain.

A couple of things to keep in mind:
- I never owned an IPOD so I am not sure how it hooks up to the Terrain ( I know in the center console there is a USB and an AUX jack, which one do I use?)
- I have a NAV system but no DVD, so can the DirectX play any video on the screen?

Note: I tried to hook up the IPAD with the USB cable (to the USB in the Terrain) that it came with and I got a message on the IPAD screen saying" This accessory is not supported by the IPAD".

Thanks in advance.

Like viruses, eh? I jailbroke my iPhone, and switched it back. I don't need others peeking into my personal information. And, yes, they do that. http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/yet-another-iphone-worm Any jailbroken iPhone is a big virus and personal information leak. Plus it crashed often, and a ton of other issues too. I would never recommend it to anyone for any reason.

Sorry to hear you had problems i have never had a problem with my phone after jailbreaking it. The only time you get viruses is by loading software into a jailbroke phone you know nothing about XP. Do some research on the net before you download a program.

Don't be too sure. Even the jailbreaking software, which is required to jailbreak one, opens the phone to all types of access you don't even know about. There have been a number of well known developers already admitting they have taken advantage of these issues.

You will have to get a auto adapter for the iPad and use one of the 4 power outlets and connect through the Aux port (the iPad draws too much power to use the USB port).

You can only play video on the NAV screen when in Park (although there may be some hacks in the future to allow playing while moving, I haven't seen any yet).
Thanks SnowItch!

By auto adapter, you mean the audio auxiliary cable right?
So you are saying that the USB is not enough to support the iPad? So there is no way to hook it up via the USB in order to control it from the vehicle screen like the iPod?

About the video...you say I can play them in park, but what format were you able to play? .mov? .avi? And did you play them from your Zune via the USB? ( I think you have a Zune ;) )

Actually, I would be VERY surprised if the iPad worked with the Terrain (assuming add'l power).

While the iPhone and iPad have very SIMILAR operating systems, it is my understanding that they ARE different and have different firmware.

Im going to scour the developer website and see if there's anything concrete on there. I'll post whatever I can, since posting from the developer website is against the developer program rules. :)

Many see a USB port and just figured you can plug any peripheral into it. Nevermind that it is located in a vehicle which doesn't even have a USB controller. Give it a few weeks, I swear someone will come here pissed off because they tried to install a printer (while loading the printer drivers via the vehicle CD player) and stunned that it doesn't work.
