I've noticed lately that my new Nox (one month old) is losing the "new car" smell, and what is replacing it smells more like cigarette smoke. Our Cruze is 8 months old and I notice the same smell in that car... and it's really strong. No one smokes in either car. I don't think it's the leather seats (the Cruze has fabric).

Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas on what it might be?

Not happening here. As for the obvious question, do you or anyone in your family smoke? ....hmm...do you drive with the air on circulate?

Your wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend or one of your kids is using the Nox and Cruze to smoke on the downlow? :D Seriously though, I haven't noticed any sort of smoke smell in my Nox.

Neither of us smoke, we work in smoke free environments, and no one drives the cars but us.

I usually drive with the air on "auto". The Cruze doesn't have it, so we usually use the A/C with outside air (unless it's really hot, in which case we recirculate).

The only thing I can think of is that you're smelling the regular ol' outside air. I always drive with the AC on circulate because I hate the smell of exhaust and cigarettes. You might try that for a few weeks and see if you notice a difference.

The Cruze can sit in the garage for a week, and when we open the doors, it smells like smoke. And it's driven pretty much exclusively in the country (very little city driving).

We have a friend with a Cobalt that complains of the same thing. He thinks its the foam used in the seats

I'll try the recirculate in the Nox to see if it helps.

Maybe sprinkle some baking soda onto the seats and rub it in? (for your Cruze anyway, with fabric seats) Then vacuum it up after about 15 minutes.

Smell the deck lid liner.
