2014 equinox - po had the engine detonate basically. Rod came disconnect possibly? Pic for the damage in question.

Have yet to pull the head and check cylinders. If this is the only damage is it an issue?

Are the LEAs sleeves? Where would I find new cylinder sleeves or are they able to be bored? I see there are oversized pistons available.

There's a large number of people who are more qualified to reply than myself but since no one else has written back I'll give my opinion.

2014 and LEA makes me believe you have a 9 year old car with a 2.4 inline 4. Is guess to repair it will be close to what the value of the car is.

If the block is ok based on that chunk of casting missing, and i can use std size pistons, a set of rings and pistons, timing/balance chain kit w/water pump, head gasket kit with valve seals and head bolts, would run about $600. Plus fluids and my time. So not really the cost of the vehicle considering they sell for $6kish.

But I do have another engine already to go. Just wanted to see if fixing this block was possible as good engines with a new timing chain on them sell for $1500-2500 around me. Why? No ideas. But I'd likely sell at $1k or so if possible. Or just have a back up engine.
