I let it run for a couple of minutes and it slowly dropped to around 700 RPM and seemed to stabilize there.

During intial start-up the engine is in "warm-up mode" in which the AFR is extremely rich, the engine is running more RPMS while it warms up the converters to get them ready to work properly. This reduces start-up emmisions and gets the cats ready faster....redlight_005 said:What does your 6 idle at?
On cold starts, direct injection can be controlled to create a richer air/fuel mixture around the spark plug, making it easier to ignite in a cold engine. This results in a smoother operation and an approximate 25-percent reduction in cold-start hydrocarbon emissions during the cold-start and warm-up
