This morning (temp outside = 15 degrees celsius, around 60 fahrenheit), it started @ around 1200 RPM.
I let it run for a couple of minutes and it slowly dropped to around 700 RPM and seemed to stabilize there.

That doesn't sound out of the ordinary.

During intial start-up the engine is in "warm-up mode" in which the AFR is extremely rich, the engine is running more RPMS while it warms up the converters to get them ready to work properly. This reduces start-up emmisions and gets the cats ready faster....

My 6 idles @ 1250 for around 20-30 secs

Personally I always let the car get out of this mode before I take off and drive....But it most certainly is not required these days. I think alot of people even recommend that you do not do this anymore

From GM's site on the 3.6L HFV6

On cold starts, direct injection can be controlled to create a richer air/fuel mixture around the spark plug, making it easier to ignite in a cold engine. This results in a smoother operation and an approximate 25-percent reduction in cold-start hydrocarbon emissions during the cold-start and warm-up
Just looking for normal idle speed, not fast. So 700rpm is what you guys are seeing?
TTT
What about a I4..My idles around 500..That sound ok??

504-579

Warm engine/AC on

That was the range I logged using my data logging software. Idled for roughly 2 mins before I turned it off

If I had to guess I would say the ECM is set for 550rpms
