Hi all,

I searched for memory seats, but couldn't find anything directly related to what I wanted to ask without getting confused, so bear with me haha.

I have had my Equinox for 2 months and 1 day now and I still don't have my memory seat set up! It's not a pressing issue since i'm the only one who drives it, besides the odd time I let my boyfriend take it out, so that's why I have left it so long.

So how the heck do you set these things up? I have looked in the manual and followed the instructions but i'm obviously missing something. I sit in the car with the key in the on position, move the seat to where I like it and press and hold the "mem" button and the "1" button until I here a beep. This beep happens almost instantly. I have tried just holding down the "1" button, I have tried pushing "mem" then "1" and various other combinations. I have also tried setting it while in drive but stopped, in drive, in park, with vehicle on, with vehicle off...what am I doing wrong?? Whenever I move my seat back to take my huskyliners out at the carwash, I hop back in and press the "1" to restore my seat settings and all it does is move like a centimeter forward and stops!!

Help please :).

You are doing everything right except, you have to hold down the "1" until the seat stops moving. Also, you can set up the memory seat with the remote. Just have the option "on" in the vehicle settings mode and set the seat to 1 or 2, then put in one of the keys and turn the ignition on then off. That sets the seat to that remote. When you use that remote to unlock the car, as soon as you open the door the seat and mirrors will go to that position.

Trust me, that was the first thing the dealer went over with me. The Tahoe's had the system of one touch memory. GM went cheap on this one. At least it works.

We have our seats and outside mirrors memory set for each of our remotes...and it works . Thanks rickbb63 for extra info. We had not set ours yet..since we had just picked it up Monday..and just now found time.
We were kind of surprised that the inside rearview mirror doesn't 'memory set' along with the seats and outside mirrors. We've never had this feature on our other cars...so maybe it isn't suppose to. However..seems that it should be included.....

There is no motorized feature for the inside mirror. Guess they figure you can move that one by hand. At least it self dims. Have you tried the remotes with the seats?

Actually this isn't a product of being cheap but a product of functionality. This is the same memory seat system that is in the Buick Lacrosse and the Buick Regal. Holding the button down prefents people from being crammed in to the stearing wheel if they use the wrong memory setting or drive someone else's car.

Where is this setting? I couldn't find it in the manual.
Thanks
The setting is in the center stack menue....just make sure it says "on" on the right side of menue. The manual seems pretty skimpy on instructions. Put whatever key in that you select as No.1...turn key on,,set seat and mirrors...press memory button..press and hold No.1 on side of seat till it beeps..then turn key off..then back on. Then repeat that process with other key(No.2). If menue has been set to "On"....you can lock car..then unlock with No.1 key remote...and seats and mirrors will move immediately to No.1 setting. If you use No.2 key remote...it will then adjust to No. 2 settings after it unlocks.
I think that I have this in right order. We only did it once..and now seems to work like a charm...

IceMan, waiting for my 2011 LTZ. Are the seats adjusting right after the key remote press or when you open the door?

easy exit and memory seats 2012 Equinox LTZ

Just got a 2012 Equinox LTZ with memory seats. I can set the memory seats but the easy exit feature does not work and the keyless remotes do not activate the memory. Reading the manual, it refers to setting these up or turning on or off in the configuration/vehicle settings/comfort and convenience menus. However, nothing relating to these settings show up in the menu, just chimes and lighting. Lighting does not give any options to set or change.
I am wondering if the computer needs reset or software upgraded, or if this model LTZ does not have those functions? It seems strange to have memory seats without these options, since that makes it pretty useless. Any help or comparison to how this works in anyone else's LTZ would me most appreciated as this is very frustrating and I want as much info as possible to take to the dealer.

I thought this was discussed in the owners manual. It certainly was discussed in this forum. Try searching.

I really wish the seat would reset when the car is started, not when the door is opened (when the remotes are programmed).

I have my seat set to slide back when I get out (more leg room, easier to get out) and if I use the remote to unlock it, I don't want the seat going forward until I'm in the car ...

Yeah - but if you accidently used a shorter person's remote, then the car might crush you legs trying to adjust to their physique.

I have read the manual in detail, and I have searched the forum and read the relevant posts. I was hoping someone with a 2012 Equinox (or earlier) may have experience with this specific problem (explained in my question) and could tell me what they found out. I can set the memory seats as described in the manual and the forum using the 3 buttons, and pressing and holdiing each number moves the seat to the position I set. However, the easy exit does not work on my new 2012 LTZ, and the remote or key insertion has no effect on the seat position. It is my understanding the easy exit should return the seat to the full rear position when removing the key from the ignition. The menu display on the console does not correspond to what is described in the manual regarding setting up the easy exit, keys, and keyless entry to actuate the memory of the seat position. It seems that either these features are no longer supported in the 2012 LTZ model and therefore they are not listed in the menu, or the computer needs an update or reset. In searching the options available for purchase on the vehicle, nothing is listed regarding memory other than "memory seats", which are standard on the LTZ. I have had bad experiences with dealer service departments, and I purchased from an out of town dealer, so advance information is always helpful before taking it in to the shop.

All I know is that the "easy exit" on my 2011 doesn't do anything until I open the door. And it doesn't go back all the way. If I open the door, it goes back a few inches. If I shut the door, start the car, turn it off, and open the door, it goes back further.

I hope they have not removed this option, as I find it very useful.
