Have the Terrain checked completely by a mechanic that you trust! VVTs are troublesome especially after 100K miles. They are a totally different animal to regular geared transmissions. Love our Terrain, but it is very troublesome with engine issues (2.4 ltr I4) since 110K miles. We bought a 2025 Kia and not driving the Terrain anymore. We're considering selling for parts. It's just not worth spending over $6K to get it road worthy again and I'm not young enough to work on things anymore. I do highly suggest you have a trusted mechanic check it thoroughly before buying.
