Headliner AND Misc. stuff and rant

5450 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  mtchevrolet
The latest : My headliner has started to fall down. It is hanging down about 2" including the light fixture that is located just above the rear seat.
As a further rant I am fed up with all the stuff that is happpening to my equinox. Going to the dealer tomorrow am. Proabley will get nowhere. Their normal response is ( IT'S NORMAL)
Engine ticking, sharp noise at start up, ac controls that function strange, noisy ride and now headliner coming down. This is all within 6 weeks and 1000 miles.
Yes, I did drive Kia's, Hyundai's, Mazda's and Ford''s. I WANTED TO BUY USA NOT FOREIGN.!!
I made the desion to get the equinox because I have had a lot of GM products and NEVER had this much crap happen. I sold a 95 Impala SS and an 04 Envoy just to get enough $$ to afford a new economy ride for my retirement. I have owned a dozen GM autos and NONE have given me as much grief as this!
ABSOLUTELY VERY POOR QUALITY!!! Looks good but VERY POOR QUALITY. Next step will be to get rid of it. Anybody want to make an offer?

Chuck:
I am sorry to hear about your problems. The dealer should be able to fix the issues you've mentioned (give them an opportunity before you sell it) and the best part is your bumper to bumper warranty. I know, you have to take it in, but at least we don't have to mail it back to them. ;D Hoping for the best outcome with your dealer.
After 6 weeks and 3200 miles, I've had no problems whatsoever with my Nox.
I say this to encourage you. I know there are many satisfied theta owners on this forum.
Sounds like you got a lemon. Most of your complaints are unique to your car - others have not complained of your problems.

Does your State have a Lemon Law that you could turn in the car for a new one ?

Check into it.

the headliner and noise are issues...

The tick @ idle is normal because we have Direct Injection engines. The ticking sound is caused by the high-pressure fuel pump that's driven by the camshaft. Fuel pressure must be high as it's injected directly into the cylinders under compression - like with diesel engines. Within 5 years, I would expect it will be hard to find an engine that is NOT DI with the upcoming emissions and mpg requirements.

Do a google search...I'm sure you will find this topic on all forums. If you do not like it..then trade the car in. Because there is nothing wrong with the tick...

Hi Chuck, I understand your issues with this. I have had some issues with mine as well. I went to the dealer I bought it from and that was a bad deal. I changed dealer's for service anhd its like night and day. One example, it the rear spoiler was loose. The bad dealer taped it??????? very bad. The new dealer remove it and installed it the way it should have come from the factory. Give another dealer a shot. If my dealer is not sure about something, they get one off the lot and do a side by side compare.
