I recently replaced the front tires on my Terrain and after a few days the Stabilitrack and ABS lights popped up in the dash. I wen to an AutoZone to scan the code and it gave me the "C0040-5A right front wheel speed sensor circuit not plausible". The symptoms it has are, there is a grinding noise (almost like when braking on snow) when braking at parking lot speeds and then AWD gets turned off and the noise is gone. I noticed that after the second tire replacement (I did one at the time) it's pulling to the left. I've done some research and found out that it might be caused by a bad sensor or a bad magnetic ring in the wheel hub. My question is, are there other possible causes since it happened right after a tire replacement as the wheel alignment or something else? I know that I was supposed to change all 4 tires at once, but I'm a student and money is short.

I have replaced the sensor and disconnected the battery to clear the code an now it gave me a different code "C0040-06 right front wheel speed sensor low voltage/open. So I guess next is replacing the hub. Do you guys think I should replace both sides?

My policy is only to replace what's broken. I think there are some cases where the recommendation is to change both sides (suspension parts) ... maybe because you could end up with a leveling or alignment issue there ... but, to my knowledge, this "rule" doesn't apply to Hubs.

What brand of Sensor did you use for the replacement? If there's nothing wrong with the Magnetic Ring on the existing Hub (you can visually inspect that looking at the back of the Wheel), then I'm wondering why you're still seeing a Code.
I use a Dorman sensor. I saw a video about inspecting the ring but I couldn't find mine. I'm a noob and i just jacked my car with the standard jack. I should probably take a second look.

Hello again!
I've replaced the hub and the code is gone. However now there's a rubbing noise (sounds like something is rubbing on the heat shield when in low speeds and a whistling noise at highway speeds. Any possible causes?
Thanks!
