You don't necessarily need to be "part" of a credit union per se... you can join some out there for a small fee, like opening up a checking savings account.

Try: http://www.aspirefcu.org/buyacar.htm

The two links (buttons) below may be of some help, CUDL and MVCP. Good luck..

some credit unions want a mere $5 deposit.
Id go online and find what credit unions are valid in your area.
Join. and get the discount.

go online and in yahoo or google type in GM credit union discount and youll find the GM credit union site.
(I cant post links at the moment)

Do you know anyone in the military? You can open an account with USAA... they say you just need to know someone or be related to someone in the military. They have a discount through there car buying service that offers a no haggle price. I bought a 2011 GMC terrain SLE-2 with convenience pack and sunroof. The MSRP I believe was something in the $28,000 range. I got it for around $26,350. They state that you'll get it for $750 below invoice.

If you want a better deal you can get a discount on a Lexus hybrid. You can get $4500 off......$4500!

All the discounts are the same now except the GM employee one.

Also, if a dealership uses the USAA discount for a non-member they are risking punishment from GM. To use it now you have to show you are a full member. Ive used it twice for buying cars, once in 08 and then in 10. In 08 I hadto do nothing except show my debit card and in 10 I had to show my members card and my insurance card.

I looked there and again just now - all I can find is a list of participating -dealers-.
sign up.
when youre doing your personnal details- somewhere in there- when you select the state you live in---- youll get a drop down list of all the credit unions in your state- that are eligible.

I did a quick check on the Equinox - here in CA- theres about a $900 rebate (off MSRP).. no regional incentives can be added as none are available-- unless you have the 1000 loyalty rebate.

I live in the Chicago area - dunno just what I got when I went through the menus. The loyalty rebate is gone for Equinox and Terrain so this forum tells me.

I called a local credit union with which my wife and I have had dealings in the past and asked if they participated Answer: no, we're too tiny"

Going back through the list from the GM side - there they were. I guess they don't have to participate, they are all included by GM. My wife had closed her account, but we re-open tomorrow.

I just got mine last week with it being the fourth Terrain/Nox the dealership sold last week leaving him with only 3 total(down from 8 the week before) and no more on the way.

Could use the loyalty of $1000 and GM Card top off bonus of $2000. Could not use the USAA discount of $750, which I was told is a private offer the same as the loyalty discount.

Got the supplier pricing due to number of cars I have bought at the dealership which was good considering it left him with one LTZ and two Terrains with none on the way.
