Other sites I have been a member of - specifically when I had my Trailblazer - put a ban on GM Customer Services being able to post in their forums.

Been here for a while and honestly I do not see the value added of "Tricia's" posts. A bit embarrassing actually for those that do respond to "her".

Mind you the trailblazer was an older model with most out of warranty, so it was members who had most things figured out and provided guidance.

Curious - what are your thoughts on banning GM Customer Service from this site?

It IS an interesting question to pose, however I feel like the benefit of having them here may outweigh the negative side.

I know they can't do a WHOLE LOT in reality, but they can help get the ball rolling for some people. I know that last summer when I was having problems with my dealership not doing repairs, once they got a call from GM Customer Service, they got up off of their butts and started doing something.

My experience with GM customer service came shortly after my purchase 2011 Terrain (new) in Dec 2011. Discovered after purchase the headliner issue with the additional "pulling away from the windshield". Dealer had no "fix" per GM at this time, (like replace headliner). So I pushed this up to GM Cust SVC to open a file. Process was easy, initially (GM) called the dealership and (they) got the same answer back as I did....who is running the Company? My case was assigned to a "Service Specialist" who gave me the same story, NO fix but would keep in touch when there was. I told him of this Forum and just if you "Google" search you can read for yourself. Was told they don't 'share' other customer problems with one incident to another. I asked don't you talk about this amongst other GM service specialist....like around the water cooler? No I was told. I told of a "Tricia" who seems to monitor the posts and offers help, but my "Specialist" said no such person is doing this on behalf of GM. Tricia did reach out to my post and sent a message to my "Specialist" that we had corresponded. When I got my next weekly update call from my "Specialist", I asked about Tricia....he did get her note but still NO to a fix per GM and told "Tricia" had no power to help with the process.
So I went back to the dealer ( I have purchased 7 previous vehicles from them) so I felt I would get a solution 'eye ball to eye ball'. Their hands were tied as the District GM Manager said they (GM) was not going to replace the headliner and "pushed" the fix back to GM engineers. I was concern to with possible I4 engine issues noted with posts on this Forum. After a sit down with the dealership's GM, he allowed my to trade my 2011 for a 2012 with little out -of- pocket expense this January. Very happy with my 2012!
So I would recommend opening a file with GM and note every time specifically you had visited the dealers service dept and what was done. Don't expect "Service" other than 'lip' until you have a 'bigger' stick to get their attention. You have to push to get attention to your issue, but remember you do get more with 'honey' and how much your selling dealer wants to keep your business.

First post and you want to ban someone, right....... Some folks would be upset if you gave them a 100 bucks and could not make change. If she even can only help a few then so be it, a few got help. Face it online forums are a great place to come to request an audience. Really what does it hurt? Then again those that want to raise a stink dont normally want answers, they just want to talk about how bad something is. Yes make it so, remove any dirrect help that could be had here by all means. Every automaker has problems with cars, ALL OF THEM:thumbdown:

Yeah, I agree...this is your first post...

I give Trivia a hard time on here, but she means well. If you do have an issue and contact her, you will get a call...but you can call yourself. Phone number is in the OP manual..

You can 'Ignore' her if you like..I'm not a big fan of banning people unless they are troublesome.

Tricia and forum customer service assistance is harmless..

I agree, customer service reps want to help as best they can, any little bit helps. I had issues with my Malibu on other forums and the GM cust rep set up a case and actually helped get things moving. Great experience! Tricia rocks on here she always wants to make sure everything is ok! That would be a cool job cruising the forums throughout the day, yea you got to hear slack but hey its the internet anyone can hide behind a computer lol

Tricia was able to answer a question for me that my dealership nor customer service could not. I've been on many forums and I must say, its nice to know that a rep is out there monitoring and trying to help customers.

It's good that GM monitors this site, but then I really don't know Tricia's position at GM. As a lifelong GM customer, I'll add GM has improved really their customer satisfaction effort in my opinion. I had an honest complaint on day 1 and GM compensated me, even followed up with a call, and a letter home

Tricia's position is this, and this only: She is part of a "team" of people that kind of "patrol" the internet. They look for forums like this, and monitor the postings...when they see that someone, anyone, is posting about a problem, their job is to reach out to that person and offer assistance in finding a resolution. They take the customer's information/complaint, and forward it to a case worker that will contact the customer and work with the customer in finding a resolution.

That is all that Tricia is really supposed to do. She can offer some minimal assistance online in the form of answering questions, however, as with any job, she has some limitations in what she can say. I expect that her limitations are largely based on the fact that when reading text on a computer screen, it can be very easy to misunderstand/misconstrue what is actually being conveyed.

Some of your comments are valid about my post - I guess I posed the question in a manner I did not intend.

The set-up was - other sites I've been at had banned GM Customer Service as the members felt there was no reaiized benefit from their participation. It was the "realized benefit" aspect I was curious about, I should not have focused on the "ban" as this was merely the outcome.

As such, I had not meant to imply that I either do or do not support a ban for this site.

The question I should have posed was something to the effect -

"Do you feel that having GM Customer Service participate in posts on this site has been a benefit to you or this community or has not been a benefit"?

Apologies,

Deeds.

Boy..I hope that none of us get banned only because the member's feel there is no realized benefit from our participation.

So far I see some help from what I am reading and I have even sent her a question and got a good reply back from her.
You know some people get jerked around by dealers. It happens with ALL brands.....If she sees that it looks like she tryes to open some doors for some folks to walk through. I so far love this site and my purchase of our new Nox.... Have a good one.

She probably pushes things around a bit. Not for Canadian customers though.
I wonder if Tricia is actually a girl or a 300lb guy sitting in his parents basement doing this for minimum wage....
