I wonder if GM will do this to the new GM cars? Questionable business practices if/when the corporation has some other financial difficulties leaving owners out in the cold.

Oh that's shiesty. Seriously. Denying warranty coverage because of the bankruptcy filing? Is this happening to ALL vehicles from "Old GM" that have a warranty claim to file? I doubt it.
GM settled a class action regarding the Vti (CVT) transmission used on the Saturn VUE and ION. When they went belly up the suit was part of the "old GM" (baunkrupt portion) and they did not honor the settlement. The firm is suing the "New GM" to get them to honor it. I got $5000 towards my Nox when my CVT went as good will from GM (New).
GM is not denying any warranty repairs on covered vehicle built by "Old GM". The reference story states GM lawyers are saying that the Impala owner can't sue "New GM" about a car built by "Old GM", which is what was agreed upon by the judge overseeing the bankruptcy.

It is a mis-leading headline if nothing else. The lady who initiated the law suit, wants the same fix on her impala as the police impalas got but the problem is she needs a 4 wheel alignment, not the rear rods replaced. What I don't understand is if her tires wore out at 6000 miles, why didn't she take it in and get the alignment done under normal warranty. Alignments are covered to 7500 miles and if an alignment causes tire damage at 6000 miles, the dealer replaces the tires at no charge.

Because she's a woman? Hate to say it but most women are oblivious to the maintenance of their automobiles. The extent of their involvement begins and ends with the turn of the key. If the car starts, everything must be OK, and if it doesn't start ... well ... somebody better fix it F-A-S-T !!

What I don't understand is why didn't the dealership help her out here? Don't most women regularly take their cars to dealerships to be serviced? Bad tires are certainly NOT something ANY woman is going to pick up on - unless the tire blows out while driving or is discovered flat.
Everyone knows that a car saleman will rip off a woman real quick!

Glad you said "most". Being in the service business I have found plenty of women who know their stuff and their are lots of clueless men out there too. I had a female technician that could run circles around most men with her automotive knowledge.

I find that the majority of salesman/saleswoman, selling any product, will try to get the better of any customer, male or female. I believe that's where "Buyer Beware" comes from.

Been there before. Many times.

The lamest one? PLEASE...I know what a dirty air filter looks like, and that is NOT one. Thanks, but I don't need a replacement.

And trust me. From my experience, they try to scam women way more than men. I go by myself, they try to replace everything they can, I say "call my husband" or bring him up there to talk about it, "oh, no it's not that bad it doesn't need to be replaced." Then it's a whole other story...
